Call to Order Chair John Hirschi called the meeting to order at 1:03p. Board Members City Council Liaison Assistant City Manager 2. Review of 2011 grant funding requests and Commission recommendations The Commission interviewed representatives of organizations applying for the 2011 Arts and Historical Preservation Grants: • Wichita Falls Ballet Theatre: Representative (Gari Boehm) • Wichita Falls Symphony for Applause: Representatives (Lynn Bassett, Genie Ratliff, Andrew Duncan, Bryson Petersen) • Backdoor Theatre: Representative (Gail Smith) • Wichita Falls Youth Symphony Orchestra: Representative (Jessica Bess) • Kemp Center for the Arts: Representative (Carlana Fitch) 4 Kidz Sake: Representative (Lynn Marshall) • Downtown Wichita Falls Development, Inc.: Representative (Cynthia Laney) • Wichita Falls Fire and Police Museum: Representatives (Brad Corley & Stephanie Teakell) • Wichita Falls Railroad Museum: Representative (Bronna McNeely) • Wichita Falls Symphony Orchestra, Inc.: Representatives (Elizabeth Yeager, Valine Lunn, Sherry Ransom) • River Bend Nature Center: Representatives (Liz Martin, Leslie Fernandes) • Museum of North Texas History: Representatives (Lita Watson, Jim Newsom) • Wichita Falls Museum of Art at Midwestern State University: Representatives (Chris Stoval, Juan Sandoval, Mary Helen Maskill) • Wichita County Heritage Society: Representatives (Delores Culley, Stacie Crosetto Flood) The Commission recommended the following funding amounts: • Wichita Falls Ballet Theatre: $9,722 • Wichita Falls Symphony for Applause: $1,056 • Backdoor Theatre: $10,222 • Wichita Falls Youth Symphony Orchestra: $6,306 • Kemp Center for the Arts: $9,389 • 4 Kidz Sake: $2,056 • Downtown Wichita Falls Development, Inc.: $2,278 • Wichita Falls Fire and Police Museum: $10,000 • Wichita Falls Railroad Museum: $1,444 • Wichita Falls Symphony Orchestra, Inc.: $10,833 • River Bend Nature Center: $7,556 • Museum of North Texas History: $9,889 • Wichita Falls Museum of Art at Midwestern State University: $7,278 • Wichita County Heritage Society: $9,833 • TOTAL $97,862 3. Other items of interest to the members Commission members suggested that the 2012 grant application be revised to include instructions for project specific information, including budget; and that a question be added for the applicant to explain how Arts Grant funds were used in the previous year. 4.
