Minutes of the meeting By Time a
Today's meeting is a regularly scheduled meeting of the Human Needs Commission.
The meeting was convened in the City of Wichita Falls Council Conference Room.

1. Call to Order:
Item 1. Ms. Penny Miller called the commission to order at 5:13 p.m. The
June 176 minutes were approved unanimously with corrections.
The following items were discussed:
Item 2. Ms. Miller informed the Commission that the League of Women
Voters was conducting a study of the City's Boards and
Commissions. Commission members might be contacted by
members of the League of Women Voters as part of this study.
2. Old Business:
No old business was pending
3. Committee Reports:
Item 1. Committee on Disabled. Future efforts of the committee will be
to work to promote activities that will assist the disabled to
increase their job opportunities. The Committee is preparing for a
forum for this September.
Item 2. Status of Women/Human Needs. The joint Committee is
continuing their efforts to address domestic violence. After the
success of the last forum on this issue, another public forum is
being planned for this fall. It is anticipated that it will be possible
to obtain statewide publicity for this event.

Item 3. Committee on Aging. Work is continuing in contacting local
groups who work with the aged. Through this networking, it will
be possible to better identify the needs of the aged and find
solutions that will meet those needs.
4. There being no further business, a motion to adjourn was made and seconded.
The motion to adjourn was unanimous. The committee adjourned at 5:36 p.m.
5. The next meeting will be held August 19, 2002 at 5:00 p.m. in the City
Council Conference room.
