Commission on Human Needs Minutes - 09/18/2000 RECEIVED IN HUMAN NEEDS COMMISSION CITY CLERK'S OFFICE MINUTES OF MEETING Date lb-lb- ( -600 September 18, 2000 By O._ Time S: SSQ 1. Today's meeting is a regularly scheduled meeting of the Human Needs Commission. The meeting was convened in the City of Wichita Falls Council Conference Room. Attendance is as follows: Presents: Kay Geuirn Renee' Jackson J.D. Jamar Maria Maldonado Staff Liaisons: Bob McBee Dave Goodrich Penny Miller Veronica A Moody Katherine Phillips Rita Vokes L. Brent Walker Absent: Guest: Cheryl Krause Dave Coddington Vickie Tanner David Western Call to Order: Item 1: The Commission was called to order by Ms Penny Miller at 5:00 p.m. The August 21st minutes were approved unanimously with no corrections by a motion from the floor. The following items were discussed: 2. Old Business: Item 1: Recognition by City Council of the Human Needs Commission —A copy of the Mayor's interview with Ms Miller was be played for all Commission members. Item 2: Committee on the Status of Women — MS Volkes said her committee was putting together a task force to find ways to prevent domestic violence. This task force will be comprised of such agencies as the United Way and First Step. Their first planning meeting is scheduled for October. Commission on Human Needs (continued) Item 4: Committee on Aging — This committee is currently not staffed. New appointees are being sought. Item 5: Committee on Disabilities—Mr. Jamar is still compiling information for the pamphlet on support groups. Item 6: Committee on Human Relations — Efforts are being made to start study groups with Elementary Teachers. 3. New Business: Item 1: Dave Goodrich reported that MS Pat LeBus submitted a letter of resignation. 4. There being no further business, a motion to adjourn was made and seconded. The motion to adjourn was unanimously. The committee adjourned at 5:50 P.M. 5. The next meeting will be held on 16`h Of October at 5:PM in the City Council Conference Room. J.D.
