Mr. Poteet opened the meeting at 2:30 p.m.
Mr. Gamble presented a video depicting how the new flexible gas pipe products should be
installed and the ease of installation.
Mr. Gamble opened discussion pertaining to two new brands of gas piping. The manufactures,
Parker Gas Piping and TracPipe have requested the City of Wichita Falls allow the use of their
flexible gas products. The board discussed the installation procedures and durability of the
products. Mr. Gamble noted that all installers of such piping are required to be licensed for the
particular type and brand of flexible material.
Mr. Poteet ask the Board Members present if they had a problem with either one of these two
brands of flexible pipe. All members present agreed that both types should be allowed.
The Board discussed the adoption of the 1997 Standard Building Code and the 2000
International Building, Plumbing, Gas and Mechanical Codes.
Problems were discussed pertaining to some contractors not fulfilling their responsibilities of
finishing jobs and the quality of work performed. Mr. Poteet opened discussion relative to the
licensing procedures for general contractors and increasing the amount of their bond, or applying
mandatory testing for licensing in order to weed out the bad contractors.
Because we didn't have a quorum, the board did not vote on any issues.
The meeting was adjourned at 3:15 p.m.
