Mr. Clark opened the meeting at 12:00 p.m. by introducing Mr. Dean Runnels as the new
Building Code Administrator.
Mr. Runnels spoke of his background and the types of construction related experience that he has
obtained through his career. Mr. Runnels addressed the issues pertaining to the new International
Code Council and the different Codes that will replace the existing Standard Building Codes.
Mr. Clark mentioned Mr. Gambles appointment to the ICC Plumbing Board as a representative
of SBCCI. The boards primary-responsibility was to review and propose changes to the new
International Plumbing Code. Mr. Gamble discussed the new Plumbing-and Mechanical codes
as relating to the Standard Codes and changes between the two.
The members discussed the codechange process and other topics relating to the changes.
Mr. Poteet stated he would like to look into licensing or,bond requirement changes that would
help alleviate the licensing of contractors/hat had bad records and continued code violations.
Staff agreed to investigate;other municipalities and their procedures for licensing and bonding,
then bring that information back to the Board.
Mr.Poteet made a motion to accept the minutes of the March 19, 1998 meeting. Mr. Lebow
seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.
The meeting was adjourned at 1:15 p.m.
