Park Board Minutes - 05/24/2007 (2) OLD BUSINESS
1. Discussion of Park, Recreation, and Open Space Plan.
This item is on the agenda each meeting to keep it at the fore front of our
minds. The budget has gone in and the City Council will be looking at the
annual budget and, possibly the five year plan.
Penny Miller asked Jack Murphy if he could let the board members know when
the public hearing dates will be given.
2. Lease Committee Report.
Elmer Emory met with the lease committee yesterday, (Wednesday, May 23),
and they went over some interesting points. Hopefully this will go into effect by
Fall of 2008.
OTHER:
Sharon Roach and Peg Marquardt wanted to know who was taking care of the
flower beds at Singleton and Lake Park Drive, near the Weeks Golf Course.
The Parks Department does not handle that flower bed anymore. It has been
turned over to the contractor of the work being done at the Golf Course. Mr.
Murphy will check with Matt Benoit/Assistant City Manager and let him know about
the reported high grass problem along Sheridan Dr.
There was a discussion on the ornamental structure near Arby's Roast Beef on
Seymour Highway.
The swimming pool and day camp positions have all been filled and we are ready
to get under way.
Peg Marquardt asks if we could plant some trees along the road near the Transfer
Station to help screen the view. Jack Murphy stated that he would see what he
could do.
Jack Murphy reminded the board that the agreement with the WFISD to sell
Southern Hills Park and 8 acres of Scotland Park to the WFISD will likely be
approved by the City Council during a meeting in the near future. This agreement
includes the proposed expanded gymnasium for City use.
ADJOURNMENT: The meeting was adjourned at 2:42 p.m.
