The February meeting of the Wichita Falls Traffic Safety Commission was called to
order by Chairman Jody Wade at 1:30 P.M.
Trooper Joe Clement gave the invocation.

Chairman Wade welcomed Mrs. Ruth Hill and Hoyt Hill with Channel 6 TV to the
meeting.
The financial report and minutes for Janaury were accepted and approved as
written.
The accident statistics were circulated for review. John Burrus presented a packet
of statistics for year 2000 on Kell East and Kell West at Fairway. Copies were provided to
each member for review and future discussion. Lt. Lillie advised the traffic unit is still
working the top ten locations.
City Traffic Report
Mr.John Burrus presented the work schedule for the traffic dept. for the next three
months. Routine projects are underway.
State Traffic Report
Mr. Clyde Williford advised the overhead is still running ahead of schedule.
Hopefully the Kell project will begin soon.
Unfinished Business
Item 00-04: Commission Workshop
Commission voted to hold the workshop on Wednesday,March 7 at 10:00
a.m. at the Log Cabin in Lucy Park. Members were requested to notify Elaine Bourgoin to
advise of any items to be added to the workshop agenda and to confirm lunch
arrangements. Two items were mentioned to be added to the agenda: Accident Traffic
Enforcement and Adding specific entities to the Commission membership. Item to remain
open.
Item 00-05: Fall Safety Patrol Activity
Trooper Joe Clement reported that the skate party for the safety patrol
students went very well. Item closed.
New Business
Item 01-01: Hill Request (Bus Tour)
Commission members and media toured the area of Missile Rd. and Castle
Rd. around John Tower Elementary School. Items were identified that could improve
safety in the area. Chairman Wade assigned committees to work on the following items:
1. Paint stop bars on Castle at the intersection of Missile Rd. -John Burrus
2. Develop safety seminars to be offered at the school for students and parents -

Wade
3. Signs to be posted on bicycle/pedestrian trail-John Burrus
4. Trim trees in median and check on removing wall obstructing view at
intersection - Lt. Lillie & Elaine Bourgoin

5. Possibility of installing a bridge and lighting in the park-John Burrus
Mrs. Hill thanked the commission for their efforts.
