The accident statistics were circulated for review. Lt. Karl Lillie discussed the
current top 10 accident areas. Lt. Lillie reported that there were two fatality accidents
during the month of October that are being studied carefully. Jody Wade requested
statistics be available for tickets issued at the intersections of Fairway and Kell East and
Kell West. That area has been on the top 10 accident areas for several months. Elaine
Bourgoin will run the reports to have for the January meeting.
City Traffic Report
Mr. John Burrus reported that the city departments are looking closely at the area
of Castle and Missle Rd. to determine what options are available to try to reduce problems
and hopefully avoid future accidents. Currently there are no crosswalks due to the
demographics of the area.
State Traffic Report
Mr. Davis Powell reported that currently the state is working with ITS (Integrated
Traffic Study) to try to tie all areas together including Sheppard Air Force Base. The study
also includes ice detectors to alert area cities of weather conditions.
Unfinished Business
Item 00-04: Commission Workshop
Held until January meeting.
Item 00-05: Fall Safety Patrol Activity
Trooper Joe Clement reported that Skatewhirl on Jacksboro Hwy.will
charge a flat rate of$300 for 2 hours of skating for an unlimited number of children. The
arena is large enough to accommodate 400 children enabling the commission to hold the
party all on one night rather than splitting it up as done in the past. They will allow drinks
to be brought in. Elaine Bourgoin motioned that the expenditures be approved and the . +
party be held at Skatewhirl this year. The commission voted to approve the item. The dale
for the party is scheduled for Wednesday, December 136, from 4:00 p.m. to 6 p.m. Joe
Clement will make the necessary reservations and arrange for the drinks. John Burrus will
arrange for the ice. Elaine Bourgoin will secure the cups and mail out reminder notices.
Don Vann will notify the different campuses. MSgt. Jim Zillweger will arrange for military
volunteers to assist with the party. Commission members were encouraged to attend to
help with the party due to the large number of children anticipated. Item to remain open.
New Business
Item 00-06: Appointment of Nomination Committee
Brad Altman and Jody Wade made the nominations for the 2001 officers as:

Item 07-00: Election of Officers
The commission approved and appointed Jody Wade as Chairman and Brad
Altman as co-chairman for 2001.
Items of Discussion
Joe Clement requested that the state take a look at the signs on the
expressway in the construction areas. Suggested that signs designating the correct lane of
travel be used to try to avoid unsafe lane changes in the already congested areas. Mr.
Powell will review the area for possible enhancements.
Brad Altman suggested that the stripes be repainted at the intersection of Kell and
northbound 287. Mr. Powell will take a look at that area.
Chairman Ronnie Awtry commended the commission for progress completed in the
past year and thanked the commission for the opportunity to serve as chairman.
There being no further business before the Commission, the meeting was adjourned
at 2:28 P.M.
