"AN ORDINANCE TO PREVENT THE OBSTRUCTION OF THE STREETS, ALLEYS,
AND PUBLIC GROUNDS OF THE CITY OF WICHITA'FALLS, TEXAS., AND TO PREVENT THE EREI
CTION AND MAINTENANCE OF BARBED WIRE FENCES WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS AND TO PRO-
HIBIT THE LEAVING OF HORSES UNHITCHED ON THE PUBLIC STREETS OR ALLEYS OF THIS
CITY AND TO PROVIDE PENALTIES" PASSED ON THE 15TH DAY OF JULY, 1907 AND APPROVED
JULY 16TH 1907 BY T. B. NOBLE, MAYOR SO AS TO REPEAL THAT PORTION OF SAID SECT-
ION FOUR (4) WHICH RELATES TO AND AUTHORIZES MERCHANTS DISPLAYING GOODS FOR AD-
VERTISING PURPOSES ON THE SIDEWALKS, AND ALSO PEERMITTING TRASH AND GARBAGE CANS
TO BE PLACED ON THE OUTER EDGE OF THE SIDEWALKS.

placed on its third and final reading by the following yea and nay vote:

ORDINANCE NO. 298
An ordinance to amend Seotiohs Nos. 2,3, and 17 of Ordinance
No. 227, entitled " An Ordinance regulating the production, making, manu-
facture, care, delivery, and sale of registered milk or cream, pasteurized
milk or cream, milk, cream, skimmed milk and buttermilk within the limits •
of the City of Wichita Falls, Tex s" passed and approved the fifteenth
day of June, 1916, so as to hereafter read as follows:

ORIDNANCE NO. 300
An ordinance to license, tax, and regulate hacks, carriges,
omnibuses, service cars, and any other motor vehicle engaged in the trans-
portation of passengers for hire and transfer wagons engaged in the
transfer of ba gage or any commodity for hire, and to prescribe their
compensation and to provide for their protection, and establishing stands
for same, and prohibiting the standing of such vehicles at places other
than herein provided and prescribing a penalty,
was on motion of Alderman McDowell, seconded by Alderman Curlee,
placed on its first reading b the following yea and nay vote:

Mayor Cline then declared Ordinance #300 passed on its first
reading by all the Aldermen present voting yea.
Moved by Alderman McDowell that the North Texas Furn. Co. be "
permitted to install a sign 4'x20' on their building at Ninth and Scott,
provided that same be supported by four guy wires well anchored in the
wall, , and finder the usual provisions,to-wit:
That the said North Texas Furniture Co., their legal represen-
tatives and assigns, successors, and administrators hold the City harmless
from any damage that may arise from the installation of said sign, that
same be installed under the supervision of the City Engineer and that it
be removed on request of City Council
whioh motion was seconded by Alderman Curlee, and carried.
Moved%by Alderman McDowell that the Mayor be authorized to execute
lease on the White Oil Corporation offices in the Clint Wood building at
a monthly rental pf $132.50
which motion was seconded by AldermanCurlee and carried.
Moved by Alderman Curlee that C.B. Montgomery be authorized to
have necessary electrical work done on the Library, and supervise same
which motion was seconded by Alderman Bralley and carried.
The Mayor then instructed the City Clerk to notify the Wichita
falls Electric Co. to install lights on Huff Ave. from Brook to Harrison
Moved b,rrAlderman McDowell that W.G. Bralley, Commissioneb of
Public Saftey, be authorized to employ Lee Huff as Chief of Police at a
salary of $4,000.00 per year,
which motion was seconded by Alderman Curlee and serried.
The Board of Aldermen then adjourned.
