The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls Texas, met
in regular session on the above date with the following present:-

Moved by Alderman Shepherd that the Mayor be aut ized to execute
contract with the Plains Paving Co., for the Paving on-N end of Ohio.
which motion was seconded by Alderman Curlee, and carried.

Moved by Alderman Curiae, that the City Engineer, Julian Montgomery
be given a ten day vacation to begin on 5th Inst,
which motion was seconded by Alderman Shepherd and carried.

Moved by Alderman Reed that the petition from the carpenter's anion
be referred to Street Commissioner Curlee for reply,
which motion was seconded by Alderman Shepherd, and parried.

following Resolution be adopted.
Motion carried by following vote:-

RESOLUTIO N
Be it Resolved by the Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita
Texas, that the Deputy City Clerk, whose duties are to attend the Corpora-
tion Court of said Gity, and who is commonly known as the Desk Sargeant of
the Policemen Department, shall give bond in the sum of One Thousand Dollars,
payable to the City of Wichita Falls, conditioned that he will well and
faithfully perform all the duties required of him by law, and that he will
pay over to and account to the proper authority of said city all money or
moneys collected by him for the city in the performance of hie duties as
clerk of the Corporation Court of said City. Said Bond shall be signed by
the principal and two good and sufficient sureties who shall make affidavit
that they are each worth more than double the amount of the bond, over and
above all exemptions allowed by law, and all liabilities and that they and each
have real estate situated in the state of Texas, subject to execution under
the laws of the State of Texas, worth more than double the amount of the bond.
However said bond may be signed by an authorized surety company to sign bonds
of this nature, by the state, in lieu of said personal sureties.
Said bond shall be approved as to form by the City Attorney and in
all other respects it shall be approved by the Mayor.

Moved by Alderman Curiae that the City Clerk ask Ramp P. Abney to
file statement showing the city's pro-mata expense in connectian with the
Gas Company,
which motion seconded by Alderman Shepherd and carried.

Moved by Alderman Shepherd that Mrs Thos Pryor be permitted to operate
a grocery business in the Laloyce Building at 22nd and Holliday Streets, under
the usual provisions to-wit:-
That the said Mrs Thos Pryor, her successors, and assigns, legal
representatives and administrators, hold the City harmless from any damages
that may arise from the operation of said grocery store, and that the operation
be stopped at once when requested by the Board of Aldermen.
which motion was seconded by Alderman Reed and carried.

Moved by Alderman Curiae that the matter of sidewalk maintenance
Bonds be referred to the City Attorney and City $ngineer for investigation and x
report,
which motion was seconded by Alderman Reed, and carried.

Moved by Alderman Reed that the City Clerk be directed to write the
Editor of the Lifted Veil that Blind people are not prohibited by our ordinance
from begging or selling merchandise on our streets but the ordinance does re-
quire them to first get a permit from the Welfare Council,
which motion was seconded by Alderman Shepherd and carried.

Moved by Alderman Shepherd that Dr Reed be authorized to make a firm "
offer of 01.0031.37 to the Methodists for certain equipment in their Hospital
at Call Field,
which motion was seconded by Alderman Curiae, and carried.

Moved by Alderman zteed that Street Commissioner Curlee be authorized
to buy tractor from Sanders-Raid at an approximate cost of 0l250.00,said Tractor ,i
being listed at -05100.00 and having been in fire,
which motion was seconded by Alderman Shepherd and carried.
In order to :ix the tax rate for present year, and as necessary
data was incomplete, the Board of Aldermen then adjourned until Thursday Aug .
4th, it 1 P. M.
