Min 04/24/1922 • WHEREAS, it is deemed advisable to enter into said contracts upon the terms set forth therein, and for the compensation therein provided. therefore, Be It Resolved by the Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls: 1. That the City of Wichita Falls do enter into contracts with the West Texas Construdtion Company, binding the city to do and perform all the work of excavation shown in said contract, and on the said street, being a sep- arate contract for each of the said portions of the street above set forth,at and for the prices and upon the terms therein stipulated and set forth. 2. That the said contract is hereby approved and adopted and the Mayor is hereby authorized and directed to execute and sign the said con- tract in the name of the city. 3. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its passage. Appleby be permitted to build and operate a soft drink stand on rear of lot 701 Adams Street, Wichita Falls under usual provisions to-wit: That the said A. F. Appleby his successors and assigns, legal representatives and administrators shall remove said building whenever such re- quest is made by the Board of Aldermen. Motion seconded by Alderman Reed and carried. ############### Moved by Alderman Reed that I. H. Roberts.be instructed to place fourteen markers at positions designated by Police Commissioner Fitts. Motion seconded by Alderman Fitts and carried. ############### • Moved by Alderman Shepherd that W. E. McBroom be named as official auditor for the City. Motion seconded by Alderman Stayton and carried. ############### Moved by Alderman Fitts that the City Clerk notify property owners at the following corners to cut down the embtakmeiit. Motion seconded by Alderman Reed and carried. ###P4### Mr. J. C. Hunt then addressdd the Board and asked that Michigan Avenue be closed between 6th & 7th Street, and Alderman Shepherd moved that the Board inspect the oro,erty and take action next regular meet- ing. Motion seconded by Alderman Stayton and carried. ############# The Board then heard the arguments of several Citizens on the route to be designated as the Meridian Highway and Alderman Fitts moved that the Board go into executive session to consider certain things that may be considered in executive session. Mhtion seconded by Alderman Clifford and carried. The Board then went into executive session then went out of executive session and Mayor Collier notified all visitors present that the Mer- idian Highway question would be passed for a week. ################# Moved by Alderman Shepherd that the Mayor be authorized to sign contract with the Wichita Falls,Electric Co., for power for the Sewer lift at sewer disposal plant. Motion seconded by Alderman Stayton and carried. #######;4## . ORDINANCE 407 "AN ORDINANCE REGULATING METER READING BY THOSE PUBLIC UTIL- ITIES WHICH SELL THEIR COMMODITIES THROUGH MET-;RS OR METERING DEVICES; 416 PROVIDING FOR THE HANDLING OF CERTAIN COMPLAINTS AGAINST SUCH UTILITIES AND PROVIDING A PENALTY". Was on motion of Alderman Fitts seconded by Alderman Shep- herd placed on its first reading and passed by the following vote:- Yeas: Reed, Stayton, Clifford, Fitts, Shepherd. Napes: None. Moved by Alderman Clifford that the City Taxes on the fol- lowing lots near Sam Houston School bought by School Board be waived by the City. Lots 1, 2, 3, 4, Block 59A, Highland Addition " 16,15,14, " 59", Highland Addition All of Block 10, Homewood Addition. All of Block 74A,75A, 78A, 79A, except Lot 9 Blk 79A,High- land Addition. Lots 9, 10, 11, 12, Block 5, Bateson Addition. Motion seconded by Alderman Shepherd and carried. Moved by Alderman Fitts that the City Attorney be author- ized to appeal the Service Car case now in the Courts in the eventh the case is decided against the City.
