On above date the Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls,
met in regular session recessed from May 25th for the transaction
of the following business, to-wit:

J W Bradley Alderman
Horace Nutt, City Atty, V G Skeen, City Clerk, H F Robertson,
Assessor and Collector and A J Humphris, City Marshal in attendance.
Messrs W E Freeze and T H Yeery came before the Board of Aldermen
with the request that a part of the Taxes on Lots 7. 8. 9 and 10
in Block #3 of the Bateson Addition to the City of Wichita Falls,
be remitted on account of excessive renditions for the years of
1894 to 1914, inclusive, excepting the year 1899.
A motion was made by J F Reed and seconded by J W Bradley that
one third of the Taxes on Lots 7, 8, 9 and 10 in Block No 3 of
the Bateson Addition to the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, be
remitted for the years 1894 to 1914, inclusive excepting the
year of 1899, on account of excessive renditions. Motion carried.
Messrs J W Culbertson and W C Gibson came before the Board of
Aldermen asking for an amendment to the Wichita Falls Gas Co's
franchise, with respect to charges for gas. No action was taken,
the matter being deferred until the next regular meeting,June 1st,
at which time they were asked to submit a written amendment,together
with data and reasons for asking for the amendment.
Upon motion of W J Bradley, seconded -by ti J Gardner, the returns
of the Bond Election geld on the 23rd day of May for the issuance
of Forty Thousand ($40,000.00) Dollars of Bonds for Street Improve-
ments were opened and"canvassed by the Board of Aldermen and showed
the following results; to-wit:

Held on the 23rd day of May 1916, at Wichita County Court House
Voting Box in the City of Wichita Falls, County of Wichita, Texas,
for the purpose of issuance of Street Improvement Bonds.

votes polled against the issuance of Bonds, and the correct number
of mutilated votes at said box at the Election held therein on

A motion made by J W Bradley, seconded by M J Gardner, that anig ;,
ordinance declaring result of Election held on the 23rd day of May q
for issuance of Forty Thousand (440,000.00) Dollars of Bonds for f
the purpose of making Permanent Street Improvements, be adopted.
Motion carried and the following ordinance was adopted by unanimous
vote of all the aldermen present.
CANVASSING RETURNS AND DECLARING RESULTS OF ELECTION
At a meeting of the Board of Aldermen of the City of Tiicl:ita Falls,
Texas, held on the 29th day of May, A D 1916, came on to be consider-
ed the returns of an election held on the 23rd day of May, A D 1916,
to determine whether or not the Board of Aldermen of the City of
Wichita Falls, Texas, be authorized to issue the Bonds of said City
in the sum of Forty Thousand (440,000.00) Dollars, payable forty
(40) years after date with option of redeeming same at any time
after ten (10) years' time, each bearfng interest at the .rate:of
five per centum (5'o) per annum, interest payable semi-annually, and
to levy a tax sufficient to pay the interest of said bonds and to
create a sinking fund sufficient to redeem them at maturity, for
th•: purpose of making "PERMANENT STREET IMPROVEMENTS", to-wit:
For the purpose of paving public streets and constructing the
necessary storm sewers in connection therewith in the City of
Wichita Falls, `.:ichita County, Texas, under the provisions of
the Charter o.i the City of Wichita Falls, Texa,,, adopted December
4th, A D 1911.
And it appearing that said election was in all respects lawfully
held, and slid returns fully and legally made, and that there were
cast at s. id election 214 votes, of which 199 were cast "FOR THE
ISSUANCE OF BONDS", and there were cast 11 votes "AGAINST THE
ISSUANCE OF BONDS", and there were mutilated 4 votes.
It is therefore ordered and declared that the proposition to issue
said bonds and levy said tax was sustained by a majority of the
qualified property tax payers voting at said election and that
the Board of Aldermen of the said City is authorized to issue
said Bonds and levy said assessment and collect said tax.
There being no further business the Board of Aldermen adjourned.
