The following report by the Board of Health was submitted.
To the City Council,
Sirs:- The Board of Health examined
the water supply on Aug 7th from Lake to City. We followed ditch
much of the distance, for the greater part ditch is fenced to
keep stock out of the wtaer. About one mile from lake, at Jeter
place, we found the water used in irrigating run back to ditch
through lot, of course storm would run from lot to ditch. We
found other lots, (Avis & Brown places) that storm water would
flow into ditch, water from fields fiIDw into ditch, two watering
places go Into ditch.
We are glad to report that on calling Mr Lawtons
attention to this that he at once took steps to remedy or
partiallyv remedy these defects, and in a few days, if not now
we are certain that he has done so.
Your board is unanimously of the opinion that if
o en ditch could be discarded and water broght from settling vat
just below lake dam to pump station in a large vitified pipe that
it would give the city a more wholesome water supply, however we
realize it would be expensive to Company tp make this change.
Respectfully submited,
Mrs T B Smock, W H Walker.
Q,B Lee, Everett Jones,
J T Traylor,
Mark H Moore,
J F Reed,
Board of Health.
