Wichita Falls, Texas, March let 1917.
/
1— The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Valle, Texas, met in
regular session on above date for the transaction of the business
of the city, with Mayor A H Britain presiding and with the following
Aldermen present, to-wir;
J A Richolt, M J Gardner, J W Bradley, J F Reed and J L Lea, Jr.
City Atty Nutt, City Marshall Humphris and City Clerk Skeen in
attendance.
Minutes of last regular meeting were read and approved.
Mr W Y Hammack, of the firm of Hammack & Naylor, contractors, came
before the Board of Aldermen to ask permission to use part of 8bbtt
r ,par" eve. at the ooner of Scott and 7th for the purpose of storing mate-
04( rial during the construction of an addition to the Times Building,
whereupon motion was made by J A Rioholt, that Hannack and Naylor
' be granted the use of twenty feet on Scott Ave., at above location,
under the usual provisions, that they are Bate the city harmless
s/ from any damages which may be caused by the storing of building
material at said location, which motion was seconded by J W Bradley,
I. and carried.
Mr H Ginsberg, of the City Loan COIppany, came before the Board of
' Aldermen to ask permission to erect an Electric Sign at-thbir'place
business 718Ave., whereupon motion was made byJ L Lea, Jr.,

that the City Loan Co, be grantedpermission to erect an Electric
s- Sign at the above location, under the provision that that they are
to swing the sign not less than seven feet above the side walk and
V1 to save the city harmless from any damages which may be caused by
the erection of said sign, which motion was seconded by M J Gardner
and acrfied.
Motion was made by J W Bradley and seconded by M J Gardner, that
the city authorize thj installation of incandescent lights at the
corners of th andh streets on Ohio Ave, and one at each end
of the iron ailing of the viaduct on Ohio Ave. Motion carried.
ORDINANCE No 239.
An Ordinance providing regulation for the location, erection and
construction of business buildings and business strutures in the
j residence portion of the City of Viohita Falls; Defining residence ,
portion; Providing penalt,r,aas read, and all the aldermen of the
city being present, J W Bradley moved that the rule requiring
ordinances to be read and passed at three seperate regular meetings
of the Board of Aldermen, the last of which to take place not less
than ten days from the first, be suspended, and the ordinance
providing regulation for the location, erection and construction
of business buildings and business structures in the residence
portion of the City of Wichita Falls ; Defining residence portion;
Providing penalty, be adopted, which was seconded by J L Lea, Jr,.
and upon a Yea and Nay vote the rule was suspended and the ordinance
was adopted by the unanimous vote of all the Aldermen of the City,
as follows; J W Bradley, Yea, J A Richolt, Yea, J F Reed, Yea,
M J Gardner, Yea, and J L Lea, Jr, Yea.
Mayor Britain then declared the rule suspended and the ordinance,
providing regulation for the location, erection and construction
of business buildings and business structures in the residence
portion of the City of Wichita Falls; Defining residence portion;
Providing penalty, duly and finally adopted by the unanimous vote
of all the Aldermen of the city being present and voting "Yea".
ORDINANCE No 40.
An Ordinance preventing the obstruction of streets, alleys and
public passageways by growing trees and plants, was read, and all
the Aldermen being present, M J Gardner moved that the rule requir-
ing ordinances to he read and passed at three seperate regular
meetings of the Board of Aldermen, the last of which to take place
not less than ten days from the first, be suspended, and the
ordinaaoe preventing the obstruction of streets, alleys and public
passageways by growing trees and plants, be adopted, which motion was
seconded by J F Reed and upon a Yea and Nay vote the rule was
en R3} en&ed and the vr'dinance was adopted by the unanimous vote of
all the aldermen of the city as follows; J W Bradley, Yea. J L Lea, Jr,
Yea, J A Richolt, Yea, M J Gardner, Yea and J F Reed, Yea.
Mayor Britain then declared the rule suspended and the ordinance
preventing the obstruction of streets, alleys and public passageways

vote of all the Aldermen of the City being present and voting "yea"

ORDINANCE No 341.
An Ordinanee regulating the sale of Fruits, Berries, Vegetables
and other similar products; Exceptions; Providing penalty, was
read, and all the Aldermen being present, Dr Reed moved that
the rule requiring ordinances to be read and apssed at three
separate regular meetings of the Board of Aldermen, the last of
which to take place not less than ten days from the first, be
suspended, and the ordinance regulating the sale of Fruits,
Berries, Vegetables and other similar products; Exceptions;
Providing Penalty, be adopted, which motion was seconded by
J A Rioholt, and upon a Yea and Nay vote the rule was suspended
and the ordinance was adopted by the unanimous vote of all the
Aldermen of the City as follows; J W Bradley, Yea, J A Richolt,
Yea, J F Reed, Yea, M J Gardner Yea and J L Lea, Jr Yea.
Mayor Britain then declared the rule suspended and the ordinance
regulating the sale of Fruits, Vegetable$ Berries and other
similar products; Exceptions; Providing penalty, duly and finally
adopted by the unanimous vote of all the Aldermen of the city
being present and voting "Yea".
Dr Reed reported that in the absence from duty of Sanitary Officer
J A Brown, on account of sickness, he had employed LMr R V Morgan
to look after his work and that he had taken charge of the cleanup
campaign, whereupon 3 W Bradley moved that the report be accepted
and the Mr Morgan be retained for the time being in this work,
which motion was seconded by M J Gardner and carried.
It was reported that Mr 0 E Meer, owner of Lot 12 Block 261, cor.
Brook and 10th strette, had agreed to cede to the city the right
to remove the sharp projecting curb at the turn from Brook to
10th street and to replace same with a round turn, whereupon
M J >ardner moved that the City authorize the removal of the
curb at said corner, the curb to be set back far enough to make
a round turn, which motion was seconded by J A Rioholt and carried.
There being no further bussiiss the Board of Aldermen adjourned.
