The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, met on
above date in regular session for the transaction of the business
of the city, with Mayor A H Britain, presiding and with the follow-
ing Aldermen present, to-wit;
J A Richolt, J L Lea, Jr., M J Gardner, J W Bradley and Dr Reed.
City Atty Nutt, City Marshal. Humphris, City Engineer Hinckley
and City Clerk Skeen in attendance.
Minutes of last regular meeting were read and approved.
Mr H J Naylor, of the firm of Hammack & Naylor, contractiors, came
before the Board of Aldermen to ask permission to use a part of
the street at 912 Scott Ave, for the storing of building material
during the erection of a building at said location, whereupon
J A Richolt moved that Hammack & Naylor be granted the use of 15ft
of the street at 912 Scott Ave, for the storing of building material
during the erection of a building at said location under the usual
provisions, to-wit; that they are to save the city harmless from
any damages which which may arise from the storing of materail at
said loaction, which nation was seconded by M J Gardner and carried.
Motion was made by J W Bradley, that the Electricians Bond, of
M T Arnold, be accepted and approved, which motion was seconded
by J L Lea, Jr., and carried.
ELECTION NOTICE.

CITY OF WICHITA FALLS.
Notice id hereby given that on the 3rd day of
April A D 1917, the same being the first Tueday in April, a
general election will be held in the City of Wichita Falls, Wichita
County, State, of Texas, for the election of three Aldermen to the
office of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas.
The following named persons have been lawfully
nominated as candidates for such office at such election, and
they are entitled to have their names appear on the official
ballot-:for such election.

slid City of Wichita Falls, will cast their ballos at the Wichita
County Court House Voting Box in said City, and those voters
residing East of Lamar Avenue, South and East of thi Wiohita
Valley Railway tracks and North of the Wichita River, within the
corporate limits of said City, will cast thier ballots at the
City Hall Voting Box in said City.

Motion was made by J W Bradley that the above Eledtion Notice be'

Mr J B Marlow came before the Board of Aldermen to ask permission
_ toh use part of 7th street between Indianae and Scott Avenues, for
the purpose of storing building material during the erection of
a building at 718 7th St, whereupon J W Bradley moved that J B ,F
Marlow be granted permission to use 15ft of 7th st at above mentioned
liaoation for the purpose of storing building material during the
erection of a building at said location, undet the usual provisions
that he is to save the city harmless from any damages which may

be caused by the storing of building material at said location,
which motion was seconded by J A Richolt and carried.
The committee from the Chamber of Commerce, having in charge the
matter of more and better street lights in the business district
of the city, came again before the Board of Aldermen to discild
with them another proposition for the lighting of said district,
Mr Johnson, as spokesman for the Comiittee stating that the
Committee failed to get the Wichita Pal1s,Miectric Co to agree
Pit'j V' to the terms of the former proposition. Be said he thought an
vU_ agreement might be reached with the Lighting Co if the City
would agree to maintain the lights from year to year for a
period of seven years, agreeing further, thatlif at the expira-
tion of any yearly period the lights were discontinued the City
would then take over that part of the equipment furnished by
the Lighting Co, at a depreciation of value amounting to one-
seventh per year of the *ostoof said equipment, said equipment
to be valued at $40.00 per light, and after some discussion of
the proposition, J L Lea, Jr., moved that the City accept the
above proposition, which motion was seconded by II y Gardner,
and carried by the following vote;
J L tap, Jr, Yea. M J Gardner, Yea. Dr Reed, being excused from
voting because of having property in the district covered by
the proposed lighting system. J A Rioholt, Nay. J W Bradley, Nay.
There__being:_ a tie vote Mayor Britain toted Yea, and declared
the motion carried.
Dr Reed of the Park Board, reported that Mr Lawton, Manager of
the Wichita Falls.Pater Co had agreed to lay 1200 feet of four
inch water main from the corner of Truehart and Baylor streets
into the Cemetery as per request.
Motion was made by J A Richolt, that the Curb Line from 12th
street south on Indiana Ave, be established at twenty feet
from the property line, which motion was seconded by J W
Bradley and carried.
Motion was made by J W Bradley, that the Wichita Falls Water
Co. be instructed to reset the Fire Plugs at the following
locations the proper distance from the Curb Line, at 12th aid
Broad Sts. at 13th and Broad Sts, at 15th and Broad Sts, at
12th and Holliday Sts, at 13th and Burnett Sts, at 14th and
Burnett Stsat 13th and Bluff Sts, at 9th and Travis Sts, at
12th St and Ind Ave and at 13th 3t'and Scott Ave, which motion
was seconded by M J Ilardner and carried.
Motion was made by J A Richolt and seconded by J W Bradley, that
established grade of the street at 8th and Burnett streets be
lowered one foot. Motion carried.
Motion was made by J L Lea, Jr, that Dr Traylor be granted a
leave of absence from duty from Friday noon to Sat.rday, which
motion was seconded by J A Richolt and carried.
Motion was made by J W Bradley that F K Smiths salary be reduced
from $85.00 per month to $"70.00 per month after Api let. said
motion being seconded by Dr Reed and carried.
There being no further business the Board of Aldermen adjourned.
