The Board of aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, met
in regular session on above date for the transaction of the
Business of the'City, with Mayor A H Britain presiding and with
the following Aldermen present, to-wit;
J A Richolt, J F Reed, M J Gardner, J L Lea, Jr anf J W Bradley.
City atty Nutt, City Marshal Humphris, City Engineer Hinokley
,and City Clerk Skeen, in attendance.
Minutes of last regular meeting were read and approved.
Mr Thos R T Orth, representing McFall Bros and Orth, came before
r the Board of alderman to ask permission to install a Gasoline
Filling Station in the alley behind their rlane of business at
817-819 Ohio Ave, but as the Board held that the placing of
Filling Stationsin the alleys of the city would be a bad prece-
f dent, Mr Orth amended his request by asking that permission
be granted to install said station on rial road property across
c)'W , the alley from his place of business, whereupon J L Lea, Jr.,
moved that McFall Bros & rth be granted permission to install
a Gasoline Filling Station at last named location, under the
usual provisions,that they are save the city harmless from any
damages which may be caused by the placing of a Gasoline Filling
Statidn_at last named location, to have the work done under the
supervision of the City Engineer and remove same at the request
and upon demand of the Board of Aldermen, which motion was
seconded by J d Richolt, and carried.
The next order of business before the Board of Aldermen was
the canvas of the returns of an election held on the 3rd day
of April for the election of three Aldermen to terve the city
of isichita Falls, for a term of two years or until their
successors are elected and qualified, and showed the following
results. to-wit;
For Aldermen, City Hall Box, Court House Box, Totals.
Marvin Smith, 95 Votes 332 Votes, 4f7.

J L Lea, Jr, 70 265 3 35
W H Vea, 83 " 185 268.
The vote as above hating been canvased, J F Bradley moved that
J L Lea, Jr, E G Hill and Marvin Smith, having received the
highest number of votes cast respectively for the offices of
Board of Aldermen of the City of Michita Falls, Texas, be
declared elected to serve as such for a term of two years or
until their successors are eletred and qualified, which motion
was seconded by J A Richolt and carried.
lair J E Zihlman of the firm of Hund & Zihlman,uade application for
—3- permission to install a Gasoline Filling tation at 9042 Scott
Ave, whereupon M J Gardner moved that Hand & lihlman be granted
permission to install a Gasoline Filling Itation at said location
r(ir'7, under the usual provisions, that they are to save the City harmless
' !! from anf damages which may be caused by the placing of a Filling
Station_!at 9041 Scott Ave, to have the work done under the super-
vision of the City Engined* and that they and their successors
agree to remove same upon demand and at the request of the Board
of Aldermen, which motion was seconded by J A Richolt and carried.
The consideration of certain ordinances which had been before the
old board of Aldermen £or,:some time were taken un for disposition,
the Mayor explaining that he would like to have these matters
settled before the infdming of the new aldermen.
ORDINANCE No 242.
1 An Ordinace establishing fire limits in the City of Wichita Falls,
j Texas, and regulating the construction of buildings within such
limits; providing for condemnation of dangerous buildings; regula-
ting the moving and repairing of buildings, the construction of
flues, pipes and chemneys and placixjg of stoves, heaters and
furnaces. Repealing Clause. Penalties,was read, and all the Alder-
men of the City being present, Dr Reed moved that the rule requir-
ing ordinances to be read and passed at three seperate regulr meet-
ings of the Board of Aldermen, the last of which to take place not
less than ten days from the first, be suspended, and the ordinance
establishing fire limits in the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, and
regulating the construction of buildings within such limits;
providing for condemnation of dangerous buildings; regulating the
moving and repairing of of buildings, the-construction of flues,
pipes and chemneys and placing of stoves, heaters and furnaces.
Repealing clause. "'enalties, be adopted, which motion was seconded
' by J I Bradley, and upon a Yea and Nay vote the rule was suspended
and the ordinance was adopted by the unanimous vote of all the
Aldermen of the City as follows;

Mayor Britain then declared the rule suspended and the ordinance
establishing fire limits in the City of ,Wichita Falls, Texas,
and rating the construction of buildings within such limits, ;
providing for condemnation of dangerous buildings, regulating the
moving and repairing of buildings, the construction of flues,
pipes and chemneys and placing of stoves, heaters and furnaces.
Repealing clause. Penalties,duly and finally adopted by the
unanimous vote of all the Aldermen of the City being present and
voting "Yea".
ORDINANCE No 243.
An Ordinance regulating the keeping and operation of Bakeshops
and the preparation, sale and delivery of Bakeshop products.
Fixing penalties, was read, and all the Aldermen of the City
being present, J W Bradley moved that the rule requirng that
ordinances be read and passed at three seperate regular meetings
of the Board of Aldermen, the last of which to take place not
less than ten days from the first, be suspended, and the
ordinance regulating the keeping and operation of Bakeshops
and the preparation, sale and delivery of Bakeshop products,
Fixing penalties, be adopted, which:motion was seconded by
J F Reed, and upon a Yea and Nay vote the rule was suspended
and the ordinance was adopted by the unanitous vote of all the
Aldermen of the City as follows;

Yea. J L Lea, Jr., Yea.
Mayor A H Britain then declared the rule suspended and the
ordinance regulating the keeping and operation of bakeshops and
the preparation, sale and delivery of bakeshop products, Fixing
penalties, duly and finally adopted by the unanimous vote of
all the Aldermen of the City being present and voting "Yea".
Dr Reed reported that he had rented. the City Dump grounds to
Mr P A Busy for the year 1917, for $20.00, whereupon J L
Lea, Jr moved that the report be accepted and approved, which
motion was seconded by M J Gardner and carried.
Dr Reed reported that he had ordered the sewer line extended
in the Canfield subdivision of block No 263, and J A Richolt
moved that the report be accepted and approved, which motion
was seconded by J L Lea, Jr, and carried.
J L Lea, Jr. Marvin Smith and E G Hill declared elected to
serve as Aldermen for a term of two years were qualified by
' taking and subscibing to the oath of office and entered into the
further deliberations of the Board.
Mayor Britain then appointed Dr Reed,,ohairman of the Park Board,
J W Bradley,aB-G Hill, Mrs J A Kemp and Mrs J A Rioholt as
associate members, whereupon J L Lea, Jr moved that the appoint-
ments be confirmed, which motion was seconded by Marvin Smith
and carried.
M J Gardner was elected Mayor Pro-tem, by a majority vote of the
Board and so declared by the Mayor.
The following committees were than appointed
by the Mayor.
Sanitary Committee.

J L Lea, Jr. Chairman, M_.JrGardnbra and Marvin Smith.
Public Safety Committee.

Motin was made by M J Gardner that the bills against the City as
OKd by the Finance Committee, be allowed and ordered paid, which
motionwas seconded by J A Richolt and carried.
There being no further business the Board of Aldermen adjourned.
