Wichita Falls, Texas, May Bth, 1917.
The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, met
in reular session recessed from May 3rd and again from 2 P M
of this date, for the transaction of such unfinished business
as might properly come before it, with Mayor A H Britain pre-
siding and with the following Aldermen present, to-wit;
id J Gardner,.J L Lea, Jr, Marvin Smith, E G Hill and J A Richolt.

City .esesor and Collector Robertson in attendance.

Mayor Britain stated the nurnose of the meeting to be the consid-
eration and adoption of the city Budget for the year begining
April let 1917 and ending March 31st 1918, the adoption of an
Ordinance establishing the rate of taxation for the yea 1917,and
the consideration of such other business as might be brkt before
the Board, whereupon.-. copies of the budget were distributed among
the members of the Board which was fully and easefully considered.

Motion was made by E G Hill that the Budget as submitted and
read be adopted, which motion was seconded by J A Richolt and
carried by a Yea and Nay vote as follows;
Marvin Smith,Yea, J A Richolt, Yea. E G Hill, Yea, M J Gardner,
Yea. and J L Lea, Jr, Yea.
All the Aldermen having voted "Yea" Mayor Britain declared the
Budget adopted as shown in the following exhibit, pages 165 to
178 inclusive.

? ORDINANCE No 244.
an Ordinance establishing the rate of Taxation for the year
A D 1917, was read,and all the Aldermen being present, L J Gardner
moved that the rule requiring that Ordinances be read and' passed
at three seperete regular meetinm of the Board of Aldermen, the
last of which to take place not less than ten days from the first,
be suspended, and the Ordinance establishing the rate of Taxation
for the year A D 1917, be adonted,ih motion was seconded by J L
Lea, Jr, and upon a Yea, and Nay, vote the rule was suspended
and the Ordinance was adopted by the unanimous vote of all the
Aldermen of the City as follows;
Marvin Smith, Yea. J A Richolt, Yea. E G Hill, Yea, M J Gardner,
Yea. and J L Lea, Jr, Yea.

Mayor Britain then declared the rule suspended and the Ordinance ti
° establishing the rate of Taxation for the year A D 1917. duly
and finally adopted by the unanimous vote of all the Aldermen of
the City being present and voting "Yea". "

Motoin was made by J A Richolt, that a Board of Equalization,
domposed of 0 T Bacon, J W Stone and J M Baber, alternates,
W S Curlee, W J Grisham and J J Simon, be appointed to equalize
Tax Renditons for the year 1917, which motion was seconded by
Marvin Smith, and carried.
