Min 08/16/1917 Page 216. ' Wichita Falls, Texas, Aug 16th 1917. The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, met in regular session on above date with Maror Pro-tem J A Rioholt, presiding and with the following Aldermen present; E G Hill, Marvin Smith and J L Lea, Jr. Mayor A H Britain, and Alderman M J Gardner being absent. City Marshal Humphris, City Atty Nutt and City Clerk Skeen in attendance. -o0o- Minutes of last regular meeting were reed and approved. -o0o- Mr C J Jones came before the Board of Aldermen with request that 1 TT , he be granted permission to install a Gasoline Filling Station on t Wichita Street in front of his blacksmith shop about 100 feet East Plifreje50' -of the North end of the brdige, whereupon J L Lea, Jr, moved that Mr Jones be granted permission to install a Gasoline Filling Sta- tion at above named location' the usual conditions, viz; that he is to have the work done under the supervision of the City Eh- gineer, that he is to save the City harmless from any damages which may be caused by the placing of a Gasoline Filling Station at said location land that he and his assigns agree to remove said Pilling Station upon demand and at the request of the Board of Aldermen, which motion was seconded by Marvin Smith and carried. -000- Mr Homer A Boyles came before the Board of Aldermen to ask (/ permission to remove a Gasoline Filling Station from its present location at 712 1ndx Ave to 718 Ind.. Ave, whereupon E G Hill �� l_ moved that the Western Auto Supply Co be ate"_ 7p ygranted permission to �_�, remove their Gasoline Filling Station:from its present location M'"' at 712 Ohio Ave to 718 Ohio, under the usual conditions, that r they are to have the work done under the supervision of the City Engineer, that late a to save the City harmless from any damages which may be causedV by the removal and insallation of said Filling Station and that they and their assigns agree to remove the said Filling Station upon demand and at the request of the Board of Alderme*, which motion was seconded by Marvin Smith and carried. -000- J L Lea, Jr moved that the bills against the City as OKd by the Finance Committee be allowed and ordered paid, whioh motion was seconded by E G Hill and carried. -o0o- Mr I H Roberts, Contractor, oame before the Board of Aldermen to explain the unusual delay and slow progress being made in the matter of street paving. He daid he had been unable to get ma- terial for the work now under construction, except in limited quantities. He said he had a contract with the Chico Crushed Rook Co to furnish him a car of stone a day but that they had not been un- able to $apply his demands because of their failure to get cars in which to make shipments, and that it was almost imposible to get reinforceing material at any pride of place. Mr J E Duncan, agent for the Chico Crushes Rook Co was called before the Board and explained the reason: for slow movement of rook on Mr Roberts' contract was the shortage of oars but promised to use his best efforts in getting his company to make promt shipments. -o0o- E G Hill moved that the action of Mayor Pro-tem Rioholt, in ordering a warrant drawn in favor of H F Robertson for 208.75 in payment of commission on sewer rent collections during July, be approved, which motion was seconded by J L Lea, Jr, and carried. -000- The following officers reports were checked and OKdl The report of H P Robertson showed the follwing exhibits.
