Wichita Falls, Texas, Aug 30th 1917.
The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, met
• in regular session an above date for the transaction of the
business of the City, with gayer Pro-tem Rioholt prseiding, and
with the following Aldermen present, to-wit;
M J Gardner, J L Lea, Jr., Marvin Smith and E G Hill.
Mayor A H Britain being absent.
City Marshal Humphria, City Atty Mutt and City Clerk Skeen in
attendance.

Mr W B Reeves, Jr., came before the Board of Aldermen with requeat
that he be granted permission to install a Gasoline Filling Station
at 512 Ohio Ave., whereupon M J Gardner moved that T B Reeves Jr.,
be granted permission to install a Gasoline Filling Station at
above mentioned location under the usual provisions; irtz.; that he
is to have the work done under the supervision of the City Engin-
eer, that he is to save the City harmless from ant damages which
may be caused by the installation of said Gasoline Filling Station,
and that he and his assigns agree to remove said Filling Station
at the request or demand of the Board of Aldermen, which motion was
seconded by Marvin Smith and carried.

Messers Chenault and Wheat made application for permission to ins
stall a Gasoline Filling Station at 805 Scott Ave., whereupon
E G Hill moved that permission be granted Chenault & Wheat be
granted permission to install a Gasolinr Filling Station at above
mentioned location under the usual provisions.viz; That they are
' to have the work done under the supervision ofthe City Engineer,
that they are to save the City harmless from any damages which
may be caused by the installation of a Gasoline Filling Station
at said location, and that they and their assigns agree to remove
said Filling Station at the request or:,demand of the Board of
Aldermen, which motion was seconded by J L Lea, Jr., and carried.

Mr 0 J Shoemaker, of the Public Safety Committee of the M K & T
Ry eo, came before the Board of Aldermen to discus with them the
advisability of passing an Ordinance the purpose of which would
be to regulate the passing of automobiles and other vehioles over
rail road grade crossings. He read a proposed Ordinance was read
and after more or less discussion of the proposition, E G Hill
moved that the Ordinance be received and geld for further consid-
eration, which motion was seconded by M J Gardner and parried.

A "Continuation Certificate" issued by the Southenn. Sure yeCompagy
of St Louis, Mo., whereby the Southern Surety Co agrees to contin-
ue in force Bond No 32653 in the sum of $1.000:00 in behalf of the
Southern Eectrfc Co, in favor of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas,
for the term begining the 25th day of August 1917 and"ending the
25th day of August 1918, and subjeot to all the covenants and con-
diona of said bond, was presented to the Board of Aldermen for
approval, whereupon J L Lea, Jr., moved that said certificate be
accepted and approved, which motion was seconded by M J Gardner,
and carried.

motion was seconded by E G Hill and carried.

E G Hill moved twat on account of illness S D Samples be granted
a leave of absence from duty title fuhl pay from July 14th 1917
to Sept lst 1917, which motion was seconded by Marvin Smith and
carried.

Alderman Hill reported that members of the Chamber of Commerce
and citizens had requested the use of the City men and teams,
in conjunction with the County men and teams in filling an
irrigation ditch running through the Aviation field, and that
after consulting with Aldermen Hioholt and Smith they had
gareed to comply with the request, and asked that their action
be approved by the Board, whereupon J L Lea, Jr., moved that
the action of Aldermen Hill, Hloholt and Smith be approved,
which motion was seconded by M J Gardner and carried.
