i The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, met
in regular session on above date for the transaction of the
business of the City with Mayor A H Britain, presiding and with
the following Aldermen present, tO-wit;
M J Gardner, J A Richolt, Marvin Smith, E G Hill and J L Lea, jr.
. City Atty Nutt, City Marshall Humpkris, City Clerk Skeen, Street
Supt Dobson and Fire Chief McClure in attendance.

Minutes of last regular meeting were read and approved.

Mr Chas Pogenpohl, Manager of the Western Union Tel & Tel Co,
came before the Board of Aldermen to ask permission to place
a self supporting telegraph cable pole in the sidewalk at the
corner of the alley on Borth side bf 8th street.betwcdn Ohio,
and Idnianna Avenues, whereupon E G Hill moved that the Western
Union Tel & Tel Co be granted permission to erect a self suuport-
ing Telegraph cable pole as aforesaid under the usual conditions,
viz., that the Western Union Tel & Tel Co agree to save the city
harmless from any damages which may be caused by the erection
and maintainance of said pole, which motion was seconded by
J A Richolt, and carried.

Mr B D Donnell, Manager of the Times Publishing Co, came
before the Board of aldermen with request that the Bicycle
Ordinance be repealed or amended to allow messenger and
newspaper delivery boys the use of the sidewalks, but after
a discussion of the matter the Board decided it could not
consider the request and no action was taken.

Mr Lon Marrisett made request that he be granted permission
to i4satll a Gasoline Filling Station in the sidewalk at 814
r, Scott Ave., whereu on J L Lea, Jr moved that Lon Morrisett be
granted permission to install a Gasoline Filling Station at
above mentioned location under the usual provissions, viz'.,
„i that he is to have the work done under the supervission of the
City Engineer, save the city harmless from any damages which
le *" may be caused by the placin- of a Gasoline Filling Station at
sj,e1 4 above mentioned location and removed same at the::rgquedt or
4 upon demand of the Board of Aldermen, which motion was seconded
by Marvin Smith and carried.

Mr M A Marcus, representing the Peoples Ice Co, came before the
Board of Aldermen with request that he be granted permission to
install a Gasoline Filling Station at the Ice plant on Pecan St.
whereupon E G Hill moved that the Peoples Ice Co be granted
GK permission to install a Gasoline Filling Station at above men-
tioned tioned location under the usual provissions, viz., that they

are to have the work done under the supervisihn .of the City
' Engineer, save the City harmlbss from any damages which may be
))) caused by the installation of said Gasoline Filling Station
and to remove same at the request or upon demand of the Board
of Aldermen, which motion was seconded by Marvin Smith and
carried.

Alderman Richolt reported that he had investigated the cost of
signs and post necessary to the placing of Street Signs over
the city where there are no signs at present and advised the
advisability of having signs erected, whereupon Marvin Smith
moved that Mr Richolt be authorized to buy 150 iron posts and
350 metal signs and to have them erected where needed, which
motion was seconded by E G Hill and carried.

Alderman Gardner reported that he and Mr Dobson had investigated
the advisability of building a Pound Lot on the City property
west of Holliday street between 6th and 7th streets and failing
to find a suitable place for the purpose had arranged with Mr
S D Doyle, oceupying Mr Dobsons house 1509 6th to furnish a
lot and look after stock imponded for the sum of $2.50 per.
month, whereupon E G Hill moved that the report be accepted
and arrangements approved, which motion was seconded by Marvin
Smith and carried

Alderman Gardner moved that the bills as OKd by the Finance
Committee be allowed and ordered paid, which motton was
seconded by J A Richolt and carried.

Capt. H C Robb, presented an:.9deount for board tt..Atietin.for Willie
Miller, a boy who was bitten by a Mad Dog and taken to the Pastuer
Institute, "Jie explained that the boy was eatehingiand'impOnnding
dogs under the direction of the City Marshall and that he *mild
like fez' the City allow,the'adodunt, whereupon E G Hill moved that
the bill be allowed and ordered paid, which motion was seconded
by Marvin Smith, and carried.

The appointment of a City Engineer to succeed Mr L C Hinckley,
deceased, *as taken up for consideration and after a disoue don
of the qualifications of the various applioans, M J Gardner
moved that M M Cooke be appointed City Engineer to begin work
