Min 12/06/1917 ( , Page 257. Wichita Falls, Texas, Dec 6th 1917. The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, met in regular sessionnon above date for the transaction of the ' business of the City with Mayor A H Britain presiding and with thecfcllowing officers pbesent; to-wit; M J Gardner, J A Richolt, J L Lea, Jr, Marvin Smith and E G Hill. City Atty Nutt, City Clerk Skeen, City Marshal Humphris, City Engineer Cooke and Fire Chief McClure in attendance. -00o- Minutes of last regular meeting were raed and approved. -o00e- Messers Frank Kell and F N Lawton representing the Wichita Falls Traction Co, appeared before the Board of Aldermen to discus W' f, with them the propsed Ordinance requiring said Traction Co to W irotride a means of heating its street cars during the winter months, whereupon it was agreed between the Board of Aldermen and the 61 representatives df'the Traetioh Co that the Traction Co would lifiA proceed with the prover heating of the cars in use and that no 14 further consideration of the ordinance would be taken. VOA -000o- Motion was made by E G Hill that C H Crottinger be granted permission to install a Gasoline Filling Station on Lot No 1 Bleak B of the Jalonic Addition uder the usual provisions, /' to-wit, that he is to have the work done under the supervision NI'�X_ir' of the City Engineer, save the City harmless from and damages 7 which may caused by the installation of said Gasoline Filling Station and that he and his assigns agree to remove same upon demand or at the request of the Board of Aldermenl which motion was seconded by J A Richolt and carried. 1 -o000- Mr H E Huff came before the Board of Aldermen with a proposal p^���" that if the City would pave the intersection of Brook and Huff streets that he would pave Huff street for a distance of trio�%;,.& n tg three blocks and posibly further, with the undertsanding that ,t't . the city have the excavations made and street brought to parper grade, and without formal action the Board of Aldermen agreed 1/1 ,j4. to accept Mr Huffs propostion. N'�'"( -0000- J L Lea;: Jr; moved that the following reolution be adopted, which motion was seconded by Marvin Smith and carried. RESOLUTION. WHEREAS, death did, on the 21st day of November A D 1917, visit the official family of the City of Wichita Falla and remove from his loabors and duties our City Marsahl, A J Humphris, c� ,y and, WHEREAS, A J Humphris has for a number of years served the p , ' City of Wichita Falls in the capacity of Peace Officer, during U ` which time he has always displayed untiring energy and efficiency, • ij and had at all times been kind and just to all persons, and, ( A WHEREAS, during his tenure of office as City Marshal:he has rendered to this city valuable and appreciated service, always guarding the interests and rights of this City and its peronle, and, WHER7AS, during his tenure of office he has endeared himself to the Mayor and each member of the Board of Aldermen, who deeply feel the death of Mr Humphris. THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN. OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS? TEXAS; That a copy of these resolutions be spread upon the minutes of the Board of Aldermen, and a copy furnished the family of the deceased as a perpetual testimonial of thr high regard in which he was held by the Board of Aldermen. -o00ee 1 M J Gardber moved that W B MAnkins and A A Bullard be placed on the Police Foree at •80.00 per month begining Dec 7th, which motion was seconded by J L Lea, Jr and carried. 1 1 I L Page 258. Motion was made by M J Gardner that Lrly Pris be appointed City Marshhl to fill the unexpired term of"his father A J Humphris deceased, which motion was seconded by J A Rioholt and carried. -0000- E G Hill moved that the City Marshal be directed-to see that the City Ha'l is cleaned up and kept clean with power to employ a Janitor that will keep the building in a clean and sanitary condi- tion, which motion was seconded by J A Rioholt and carried. -000o- There being no further business the Board of Aldermen adjourned. -o00p- a Read and approved this the / day of Dec 1917.
