The Board of aldermen of the City of Wichita Palls Texas, met
in regular session on the above date,for the transaction of
the business of the city, with Mayor A. H. Brittain presiding
and the following officers present:

The minutes of the meetings of Lecember 27th,28th, 31st, 1917
and of January3rd 1918, were read and approved. 1
Alderman dill moved that Sewer Extension be made as follows:
beginning at Manhole in nroad Street, between Seventeenth and
Eighteenth "treets, thence west through Bleck-17 Jalonic
addition - distance of 200 feet. Yrryc)o motion was seconded
by Alderman Gardner and carried.

a petition signed by a. E. Huff and eleven others, asking that
9 • ' crossings be placed across alma, Marshall, lark and Bridwell
streets on the south side of Elizabeth Street, was presented
to the Board and referred to Alderman Lea for recommendations

alderman Hill moved that Miss Opal Hughes be employed as

assistant to Iurs. Smock, City rood and Dairy Inspector at a
salary of idinpty Dollars per month, commencing January lst,1918, •
,, which motion was seconded by alderman .icholt and carried.

tl alderman hill moved that the action of Mayor Brittain in
F II, ' purchasing auto for the Food and DairytZtrgrtment be
99t44' ratified, and that the city Clerk draw warrent in payment of.,2 %-�0,44-
4MMID, and that Mayor Brittain take out Liability, Theft
and mire Insurance on said car. Whieltmotion was seconded
by Alderman Lea and carried.

alderman Lea moved that the following amounts be credited
to the Street fund and charged as following funds:
Sewer fund (eanitary Department)
Feed for six mules 1 mo. at $15 per each per mo. . 90.00

alderman Smith moved that City Engineer Cooke be granted four
days leave of absence, which motion was seconded by alderman
• Gardner, and carried.
alderman Gardner moved that the city bills as O.K.'d by the
finance committee, be allowed and paid, which motion was second
-ed by Alderman nicholt and carried.
alderman nicholt moved tnat the sum of 4278.50 be paid Robert
Elliott on contract 'or heating apparatus at the ,.ichita
General hospital. YTh/ motion was seconded by alderman Omith,
and carried.

Ordinance 14o. 2/ 1'
an Ordinance granting the ,.ichita Walley Hallway company a 11
franchise and risht to contract a single line siding or switch
as snown in minutes of January Nrd, 1. 18, mason motion made by
alderman Lea and seaonded by alderman Smith put on its second
reading and passed on the following Yea and Nay vote: alderman
Gardner„yea; alderman dicholt,yea; alderman mith,yea;
alderman Hill,yea. �-• '
Mayor .Brittain then declared Ordin e No ,24/�. passed on
its second reading by the unanimou „of all the city alderman.
There being no further business , the Board of aldermen
adjourned.
