Min 01/24/1918 Wichita Falls, January 24, 1918 • The Board of aldermen of the City of Wiohita calls, Texas, met in regular session on the above date for the transaction of the business of the city, with Mayor A.H.brittain presiding and with the following officers present: Alderman M.J.Gardner " J.A.Richolt J.L.Lea Jr. " Marvin Smith City Attorney Nutt City Clerk walkup City Marshall Humphries City Engineer Cooke City Fire Chief McClure, The minutes of the last regular session were read and approval - o 0 o - Ellis Robertson, representing the Wichita Ice Company, came before the Board of alderman with the request that the ti,ichita Ice Company be granted permission to install a gasoline fillix station at its plant on Ninth St. alderman J.A.-,icholt 74( moved that this request be granted under the usual provisions to wit; - that the said Ice Company have the work done under the supervision of the City Engineer ; that they save the city harmless from any damages that might be caused by said gasoline station, and to remove same at the request or upon de mend of the Board of Aldermen. Y'hdehmotion was seconded by Alderman Gardner and carried. - 0 0 o - J.L.Mears, representing the Staley Motor and Supply 6o. Inc. came before the Board of Aldermen with the request that said Company be granted permission to install a gasoline filling station at 804 Scott Avenue. alderman Lea moved that the request be granted under the usual provisions, to wit; - " That the work be done under the supervision of the City Engineer; that the city be saved from any harm or damages that might be caused from the installation of said gasoline filling station, and to remove same upon request or demand of the Loard of aldermen. )1hi4motion was seconded by alderman Smith and carried. - 0 0 0 - C.C. Shelton, Probation Officer, came before the Board and asked the co-operationof thePPolice Department in making zrrw arrests of Juveniles in the absence of the Probation Officer. Whereupon City Marshall Humphries assured Mr.Shelton that he would be glad to give him ai►y assistance possible, at all times - o 0 o - Alderman Gardner brought before the Board the fact that some of the street awnings were in a decayed condition and should be repaired or removed. Whereupon , the Board requested lire Chief McClure to make inspection and report to the Uoard. Alderman smith asked for two weeks leave of absence, whereupon alderman Gardner moved that Alderman Smith be granted leave of absence for two weeks, commencing January 26th, inst., which motion was seconded by Alderman Richolt and carried. - 0 0 0 - Ordinance No. 247 An ordinance prohibiting the giving or delivering, or causing to be given or delivered, or being in any way concerned in the giving or delivering of any spirituous, vinous, malt or other intoxicatiA liquors to any soldier in the service of the - United States of America. Definition, rpenalties , etc., ft w qs on motion made by Alderman nicholt and seconded by Alderman Gardner, put on its first reading and passed by the following yea and nay vote: Alderman Richelt - yea, Alderman Gardner,yea ; Alderman Lea - yea, Alderman Smith - yea. Mayor Brittain then declared ordinance ito. 247 passed on its 14 first reading by the unanimous vote of all the aldermen of the city present voting yea. • The Board of aldermen then went into executive session to consider matters as authorized by the City Charter to be considered in executive session.
