Min 03/29/1918 6 0 c Wichita Falls Texas, March 29th 1918. The Board of aldermen of the City of Wichita falls, met in called session on the above date for the transaction of the business of the City , with Mayor A.H."rittain presiding and and with the following officers present: Alderman M.J Gardner J.L:Lea Jr " Marvin Smith City 'lerk Walkup Fire Chief McClure in attendance. - o 0 o - Alderman Lea moved that the following resolution be adopted: RESOLUTION Whereas by reason of the long continued drouth, in this section of the State the water supply of the city of Wichita Falls, has been so reduced as to render it absolutely necessary that all users of water shall conserve to the utmost +w the water supply of said cityy..'and WHEREAS the water company has heretofore given ample notice to the citizens of "ichita 'ells that such water should not be used for sprinkling lawns, gardens, watering trees, or the like, and WHEREAS to emphasize this situation and the necessity of refraining from using such water except for absolute domestic use, the Board of Aldermen through its Mayor published a proclamation in the Wichita Daily Times on last Sunday, March 24th calling on all people of this city to conserve the water ,�` supply and directing and requesting that no person use such !" water for watering lawns, gardens, trees or the like in the present critical condition, and warning all persons that the Water Company would be directed to cut off such persons wno q violated such rules and instructions , and WHEREAS the public good, the public welfare, and public necessity demands that such water be conserved, and that such G� /jam water be not used for sprinkling purposes, and � WHEREAS in the face of this situation, and the repeated ` r, notices of the Water Company, and Public Proclamationby the �� Mayor of this City, acting at the instance of the Board of Alderman, it has come to our knowledge that some persons, Ur ignoring the rights of others, and thinking of their own J ( , selfish needs, have violated all the requests and directions as aforesaid: n NOW,THEREFORE? BE IT RESOLVED: By the Board of Aldermen �_'y that the Wichita Palls eater ,,ompany be and the same is here now ordered and directed that all persons who shall violate the requests and direction of the board of aldermen of this ,,ity, and who shall hereafter, in violation of such necessary rule and request, use the water furnished by the Wichita 'alls Water Company for sprinkling their lawns, Gardens, Trees or the like, or washing cars, shall be ordered and is here now ordered to cut off the water of such person violating such rale and direction, and such Water `company is here now directed to patrol said city , so far as same can reasonably be done, and in case of violation, which is found to be wilifel, then such water shall be entirely cut off from such person. The Police Department of the City is further directed to co-operate in the detection and report of such violations. Mayor Which motion was seconded by Alderman Smith and carried. Alderman Smith moved that the Chairman of each Committee of the Board, together with the Superintendent of each Department of the city, make a list of all property in their several Deuartmez1 _ together with the cost (if known) and the present estimated value of same, and present said lists to the Board on April 4th 1918. and that Dr. J.F.Reed be appointed to assist the Sanitary Department in appraising Sanitary Sewer. ihhich motion was seconded by Alderman Gardner and carried.
