Min 07/18/1918 Wichita Falls, Texas, July a 1918. The Board of aldermen of the city of Wichita Falls, Texas, met in regular session on the above date for the transaction of the business of the city with Mayor J.B.Marlow presiding and with the following officers present: Aldermen J.F.Reed, J,L.Lea Jr., J.M.ISeFall, and C.E.McCutchen,6ity Attorney Mathis, City Clerk Walkup and City Marshall Smith in attendance. O 0 0 The minutes of the last regular session were read and approved. O 0 0 R.E.Ruff came before the Board and recommended the adoption of the following order: It is ordered by the Council that immediately upon completion of Raving on 9th Street to Broad Street that the Street Committee is directed to cause Lamar avenue from g44.1 10th St-feet to 7th Street to be paved and on completion of said "r work on Lamar Avenue that Huff Avenue from Brook Avenue to Archer Street inclusive be paved - the property owners on each street to pay for paving and curb in front of the property owned by them ; this order to be mandatory except in case of interference from the U.S.Government or cause beyond control of this Council. Whereupon Alderman Lea moved that the order be adopted which motion was seeoizded by Alderman IL MoCutchen and carried. 0 0 o Alderman Reed submitted plans for walks in Lamar Park, whereupon Alderman McFall moved that the plans be adopted which motion was seconded by Alderman Lea and carried. O 0 0 M.A.Marcus,representing the peoples Ice Company, came before the Board and asked permission to use 15 ft of the Street at 715 rfi'Q, /Ohio Avenue for the purpose of placing material for the erection of a building at that place; whereupon Alderman McFall moved that the request be grantedunder the usual provisions, towit; that the said Ivi.A.Marcus d the peoples Ice Company hold the city tst 0 harmless rom any damages that may be caused by the storing of said material, which motion wasseconded by Alderman MoCutchen and carried. O 0 0 Alderman Lea moved that the Bark Board assess the value of all vacant lots in the cemetery, which motion was seconded by Alderman MoCutchen and carried. O 0 Alderman Lea moved that acting City Engineer Donald be granted leave of absence, which motion was seconded by Alderman McFall and carried. 0 0 0 Alderman Merall moved that the city hills be paid as per O.K. of the Finance Committee, which motion was seconded by Alderman Lea and carried. O 0 o ORDINANCE NO 252 An Ordinance giving ang granting unto the Wichita Valley Railway Co and Wichita Palls Railway Co. , the right to construct and operate two lines of tracks across certain streets and alleys in the Jalonic Addition to the city of Wichita Falls Texas, whereupon Alderman Reed moved that said ordinance be put on its third and final reading , which motion was seconded by Alderman "'c"all and passed by the following yea and nay vote: Alderman ea, yyea; Alderman 'Joeutchen, yea: Alderman Reed, yea; Alderman Me°all, yea; Mayor Marlow then declared ordinance o. 252 passed on its third and final reading by the unanimous vete of all the aldermen of the city present voting yea. O 0 o J.W.Collins came before the Board and asked permission to install a gasoline filling station at 509 Seventh "treet Whereupon Alderman McFall moved that the request be granted under the usual provisions to wit, that the work be done ander the supervision of the city Engineer and that the said J.W.Collins, his heirs,Executors and assigns hold theCity Harmless from any damages that may be caused by the installation and maintenance of said gasoline filling station and to remove same upon request of the Board of Aldermen and to replace side walk in proper condition.
