Min 07/17/1919 Wichita Falls, Texas, July 17,1919.
The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, met in regular
session on the above date for the transaction of the business of the City, with
Mayor J. B. Marlow, presiding with the following officers present, Aldermen
J. F. Reed, J. M. McFall, M. A. Bundy and W. S. Curiae. City Atty Mathis,
City Clerk Walkup, City Marshal Smith, City Treasurer Barron, Tax acessor and
Collector Anderson,alire Chief Weelnre and acting City Engineer Donald in
attendance.

Minutes of last regular session were read and approved.

Alderman McFall moved that Bradfored Supply Company a Corporation be permitted
to use 15 feet of Sixth Street at 601 Ohio Avenue, for the purpose of storing
material for the erection of a building at that point under the usual provision
to wit: that the said Bradford Supply Company, its legal representatives,
administrators, successors and assigns hold the City harmless from any damages
that may be caused by the storing of said material whioh motion was seconded
by Alderman Bundy and carried.

Judge P.- A. Mairtin, came before the Board and presented the following resolution
July 17th, 1919.
Be it remembered that at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of
Wichita Falls, held on Thursday the 17th day of July A. D. 1919., the following
resolution was adopted:
" WHEREAS, the
There exists on the north side of'Wichita River in the City of
Wichita Falls a tract of land dedicated to the Public in the original plat and
dedication of the town of Wichita Falls as a "PUBLIC SQUARE" said square lying
between Kentucky Avenue and Missouri Avenue and bounded to the Northwest by
Blocks 35 and 36 and to the Southeast ny Blocks 61 and 62 in laid original plat
and
Wh KEAS:
The said City has no particular use for said property for any municipal
purpose and the Board of Education for the Wichita Falls, Independent Sohool
District has decided to locate a public free school building upon the same, if
the said property can be secured by said Board for that purpose.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLvE.0 BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS
That the said City hereby donates *nd dedicates the property known and described
as "Public Square" 0n the north side of the Wichita River, as the same is shown
upon the original town plat of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, to public use
for free school purposes and hereby direots the Mayor and City Secretary to
execute to the Wichita Palls Independent School District a proper deed of
oonveyanoe to the same.
Dena by order of the City Council. Whereupon, Alderman Reed moved that the
resolution be adopted which;motion was seconded by Alderman McFall and carried.

Myles O'Reilly cam e before the Board and presented a proposition to the effect
that the Chamber GC Commerce undertake to raise sufficient funds for the
erection of a Muuioipal Abitor provided the City would agree to order an,
election for the issuance of Bonds for the erection of said Abitor as soon as
the tax rolls would show the necessary taxable values to authorize the City
to issue the said Bonds and take over from the Chamber of Commerce the said
Abitor, whereupon, Alderman Bundy moved that the proposition of Mr. O'Reilly
be accepted which motion was seconded by Alderman Reed and carried.

The Board then went into executive session to consider matters authorized by
the City charter to be considered in executive session. The Board then went out
of executive sessionand the following business was transacted.

Alderman Reeed moved that the Westlake Construction Company be permitted to use
15 feet of the street sty-the corner of 9th Street and Indiana Avenue for the
purpose of storing material for the erection of a building at that point under
the usual provision to wit: That the said Westlake Construction Company its
legal Representatives, Administrators, Successors and Assigns hold the City
harmless from any damages that may be caused by storing said material which
motion was seconded by Alderman McFall and carried.

Alderman McFall moved that the salary of J. L. Mc Clure Fire Chief and Fire
Marshal be raised to $175.00, per month. That the Salary of Grover Habern
Assistant Fire Chief be raised to $150.00 per month and that the salary of
B. B. Montgomery, Wire Fnepsotor be raised to $125.00 per month commencing'
August let, 1919, which motion was seconded by Alderman Curlee and carried.

Alderman Reed moved that the City Bills be paid as per 0. K. of the Finance
Committee which motion was seconded by Alderman Curlee and carried.

Alderman Curlee moved that Mayor Marlow be granted a Thirty Days leave of absence
commencing July 18th, 1919., which motion was seconded by Alderman Bundy and carried'
The Board of Aldermen then adjourned.
