Min 01/08/1920 Wichita Falls, Texas, January 8th, 1920. The Board of.Aldermen' of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, net in regular session on the above date for the transaction of the business of the City with Mayor J. B. Marlow presiding and the following officers present, Alderman J. F. Reed, M. A. Bundy, J2 M. McFall and W. S. Curlee. City Atty Mathis and City Clerk Thorburn in attendance. o 0 o Minutes of last regular and called sessions were read and a proved. o 0 o The Sanitary Committee math a report that Dr G. H. Allen had resigned from the Wichita Salvage Company and motion was made by McFall that report be approved which motion was seconded by Alderman Bandy and carried. o 0 0 • Alderman Reed moved that Staniforth and Walker be allowed to put a Ten (10) Foot parkway in center of Pearl Street, on guarantee that same be beautified which motion was seconded by Alderman AcPall aid carried. O 0 0 Alderman McFall moved that the Sinclair Oil Company be permitted to install a filling station at 6th and Lamar under the usual wrovisions to wit: That the installation of said Gasoline Filling Station shall be under the supervision of the City Engineer and that thesSid Sinclair Oil Company, its legal represeta- tives, Administrators, Successors and Assigns shall hold the City harmless from any damages that may be caused by the installation of the said Gasoline Filling Station and to remove same upon the notice of the Board of Aldermen and to place sidewalk in proper condition which motion was seconded by Alderman Bundy and tarried. O 0 0 Alderman McFall moved that the partial estimate submitted by Whitham & Company for excavating be approved and paid which motion was seconded by Alderman Reed and carried. O 0 o The City Engineer vas then instructed by the Council to have the dirt obtained from the further excavations by Whitham & Company, hauled to the Brook Street crossing. o 0 o Alderman McFall moved that Bob Elliott be allowed to install a filling Station at 1511- Lamar Street under the Usual provisions to wit: that the installation of the s id Filling station shall be under the supervision of the City Engineer and that the said Bob Elliott his administrators, Successors and Assigns, Shall hold the City harmless from any damages that may be caused by the installation and the maintenance of said Filling Station and to remove same upon notice of the Bard of Aldermen and to replace sidewalk in proper condition which motion was seconded by Alderman Bundy and carried. 0 0 o Herbert Harrison Secretary of the Chameber of Commence appeared before the . Council to request that the City pay for Twenty Eight (28) Trash Cans at Twenty ($20.00) Dollars each and Alderman Bundy moved that the Wity pay for same which motion was seconded by Alderman Reed and carried. 0 0 o Alderman Reed moved that the Council $o on record as being opposed to the operation of Public Dance Halls in the City of Wichita Falls, and that the County Attorney be asked to close same which motion was seconded by Alderman Bundy and carried. 0 0 o The Board of Aldermen then went into executive session to consider ma ters authorized by the City Charter to be considered while in executive session the lioard then went out of executive session and the followin business was transacted. O 0 o Alderman McFall moved that the employment of men for Police Force and the amount of salary paid be'left to the Committee of Public safety which motion was seconded by Alderman Curiae and carried. O 0 0 Alderman McFall moved that the following appointment on Police force be a roved. J. F. McMurray, C. R. Vivars J. 0. Colvin, E. C. Shumake, Lee Huff, Logan Hatter, and A. S. Philips. which motion was seconded by Alderman Reed and carried. O 0 o Alderman Mb all moved that the Apperson Motor Companu be allowed to put a sign post on siddwalk at 607..10th street ender the usual provisions to wit: that the installation of said sign post shall be under the supervision of the City Engineer and that the Apperson Motor Company shall hold the City harmless from any damages that may be caused by the installation of said sign poet and to remove same upon notice of the Board of Aldermen and to replace sidewalk in porper condition which motion was seconded by Alderman Curlee and carried. ! 0 o • Alderman McFall moved that Fine of Five ($6.00) Dollars paid to City Clerk on Case 24372 J. T. Valentine be refunded which motion wan seconded by Alderman Curlee and carried. o 0 b Alderman Reed moved that Alderman Bundy buy a car for Police Department and that car now in use be turned over to Dady Moore City Plumbing Inepectior which motion was seconded by Alderman McFall and carried. 0 0 0 ORDINANCE 274 AN ORDINANCE REQUIRING ALL EMPLOYEES OF FOOD PRODUCTS ESTABLISHMENTS TO BE EXAMINED BY THE CITY HEALTH OFFICER AND HOLD CERTIFICATES FROM SUCH OFFICER SHOVING SUCH EMPLOYEE TO BE FREE FROM AL_, CONTAGIOUS COIU UNICABLE OR INFECTIOUS. DISEASES, AND PROVIDING PENALTIES, was on motion of Alderman McFall and seconded by Alderman Bundy put on its second reading and passed by the following yea and nay vote. Alderman Reed yea, Alderman Bundy yea, Alderman McFall yea and Alde,r.an Curlee yea. Mayor Carlow then declared ORDINANCE No. 274 passed on its se ad:breading by the unanimous vote of all the Aldermen of the City present voting yea. o 0 o ORDINANCE 273 AN ORDINANCE CREATING THE EXAMINING AND SUPERVISING BOARD OF PLUMBERS,DESIGNATING THE MEMBERS THEREOF, AND PRESCRIBING THEIR POWERS AND DUTIES AND TERM OF OFFICE, PROVIDING FOR' THE LICENSING OF PLUMBERS, AND TH . GIVING OF INDEMNITY BONDS BY PERSONS, FIRMS OR CORPOR'TIONS ENGAGED IN '_,HE BUSINESS OF PLUMBING OR SAS FITTING IN THE CIT OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, AND SETTING FORTH TEE MANNER AND WAY IN WHICH PLUMBING OR GAS FITTING SHALL BE DONE, THE KIND AND CLASS OF MATERIALS TO BF USED IN SUCH '. ORR, THE INSPECTION OF PLUMBING AND GAS FITTING AND THE SCALE OF FEES FOR SUCH INSPECTION, DEFINING THE POWER AND DUTIES OF THE INSPECTOR OF LUMR?:"", AND EEQUIRING PERMITS FOR CERTAIN KIND OF PLUMBINGS, DRAINAGE AND GAS FITTING AND COMPELLING BUILDINGS UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIOND TO BE CONNECTED a:ITH SANITARY SEWERS, AND PRESCRIBING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION OF ANY OF THE PROVISIONS OF THIS ACT AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES ANS PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT WITH SAME, was on motion of Alderman Reed seconded by Alderman Bundy put on its second reading and passed by the follows g yea and nay vote. Alderman Reed yea, Alderman Bundy, yea, Alderman Maall yea and Alderman Curlee yea. Mayor Marlow then declared ORDINANCE 273 passed on its second reading by the unanimous vote of all the Aldermen of the City present voting yea. o 0 o A representative of Fort Worth & Denver Railway Company appeared before the Council to request tha the City join the Fort Worth and Denver City Railway Company in putting in a a syorn sewer from the Depot to the Storm Sewer on Tenth Street and Alderman Bundy moved that the City not join the Fort Worth and Denver City Railway Company in the building of this Storm sewer, which motion was seconded by Alderman Reed and Carried.
