The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Fa11s,Texas met
in regular session on the above date for the transaotion of the business
of the City, with Mayor W. D. Cline presiding and Aldermen McDowell, Bon-
ner and Bralley and City Clerk Thorburn in attendance. Minutes of last
meeting read and approved.
Pond's Laundry Company requested the Council to give them per-
mission to run electric light wires, either underground or overhead,
from one of their laundries to the other, a distance of about 5 Blocks,
in order that the one laundry can supply the other with power, and
Alderman Mo$owell.moved that this matter be referred to Alderman Bonner
with power to aot, which motion was seconded by Alderman Bralley and
carried.
moved by Alderman McDowell that the Petition for Pavingl +*-4-rw
Street be accepted and approved and handled in the usual manner, which
motion was seconded oy Alderman Bonner and carried:
Moved by Alderman McDowell that the sealed bid submitted by
G. E. Zimmerman & Company for paving eleven lots on Buchanan Street be
accepted, which motion was seconded by Alderman Bonner and carried.
Moved by Alderman McDowell that the Friedly Jewelry Store be
permitted to erect a four face dial clock at the corner of 3ighth and
Indiana under the usual provisions, to wit: That the said Friedly Jewel-
ry Store, their legal representatives, admisistrators, suocessors or
assigns hold the City harmless from any damages that may arise from the
installation of said dial clock, that the installation be made under the
supervision of the City Engineer and that same be removed at any time
on request of the City Council.
Mr. Robert Goodfellow then tendered his resignation as Chief
of Police, and on motion of Alderman Bonner,seconded by Alderman McDowell,
the following resolution was adoptedi
Resolved by the Board of Aldermen that the resignation of
Robert Goodfellow, Chief of Police, be accepted, effective August 1, 1920.
Further resolved that whereas Mr. Goodfellow is now actively
engaged in arranging the forthcoming Policemen's Benefit performance
with the approval of the Council, which will require the greater portion
of his time for the ensueing ten days, therefore he is hereby granted
a leave of absence and is excused from active duty for that purpose from
this date, July 22, 1920.
Be it further resolved that the Board of Aldermen express
herewith its appreciation to Mr. Goodfellow for his services rendered
the City and his efforts expended during his term of office in suppress-
ing crime.
Moved by Alderman Bonner that Alderman McDowell 0 g the City
bills in absence of the Finance Commissioner, J. M. McFall, and that same
be paid by City Clerk when approved by him, which motion was seconded by
Alderman Bralley and carried.
ORDINANCE 294
An ordinance to amend ordinance No. 106, entitled "An ordinance
regulating the manner and place at which porters, runners and drummers
for hotels and other public houses, and drivers soliciting for carriages,
transfer or other public conveyance for patronage or business, and to
provide penalties for violation of the same; passed by the City Council
of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas on the 4th day of November, 1908
and approved on the same day ay T. B. Noble, Mayor, was on motion of
Alderman McDowell, seconded by Alderman Bonner, placed on its second
reading by the following yea and nay vote.

Mayor Cline then declared Ordinance 294 passed on its second
reading by all of the Aldermen present voting yea.
ORDINANCE 295
An ordinance to amend Section 14 of Ordinance No. 108, entitled
"An ordinance granting a franchise to Joseph A. Kemp and Frank Kell of
Wichita Falls,Texas, and their associates and assigns to construct and
maintain a street oar line over and along oertain streets of the City
of Wichita Falls, Texas," which ordinance was passed by the City Coun-
cil of said City on the 27th day of January, 1909, and approved on the
same day by T. B. Noble, Mayor, was on motion of Alderman McDowell,
seconded oy Alderman Bonner, placed on its second reading by the follow-
ing yea and nay vote:

Mayor Cline then declared Ordinance 695 passed on its second
reading by all of the Aldermen present voting yea.
ORDINANCE 896
An ordinance to amend Section 4 of Ordinance No. 87, passed on
the 15th day of July, 1907, and approved July 16, 1907, by T. B. Noble,
Mayor, so as to make it unlawful for any person or persons to use any
portion of the sidewalk, street or alley for the purpose of displaying
goods, or for advertising purposes, and that no trash or garbage cans
shall be placed on sidewalks, streets or alleys, except those placed
there by the City, was on motion of Alderman McDowell, seconded by
Alderman Bonner, placed on its second reading by the following yea and
nay vote:

Mayor Cline then declared Ordinance 296 passed on its second
reading by all of the Aldermen present voting yea.
ORDINANCE 297
An ordinance to amend Section One of Ordinance No,109, passed
by the City Council of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, on the 23rd day
of February, 1909, and approved on the same day by T. B. Noble, Mayor,
so as to increase certain inspection fees therein provided for,and which
hereafter shall read as follows:
