Min 01/11/1923 Morgan Building Wichita Falls, Texas. January 10th 1923. The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls, met in regular adjourned session at 10 a. M. on the above date with the following present:- Frank Collier, Mayor E. E. Shepherd 9 • B. A. Stayton 9 N. M. Clifford 1 a l d e r m e n J. F. steed 9 W. E. MoBroom, City Clerk E. M. Mann, City attorney ########t############ The application of the Wichita Falls Traction Company for a temp- orary franchise for a right of way to the junior college site was taken up and Jerome S. Stone representing the property owners effected by the construction of the car line along the route applied for by the Traction Co., reported that no satisfactory agreement could be reached with the Traction Company as to a change proposed by himself and other property owners. Wm. Priddy a member of the Board of Education outlined the views of the School Board stating that the public welfare and welfare of the junior college demanded a street car line at a distance of one block from the college site. Other citizens voiced their protests and after a fair hearing were informed by the Mayor that an inspection of the proposed routes would be made by the Board of aldermen and a final decision announced later. The Board of aldermen then adjourned until 7 P. M. January 10,1923. ################t######### January 10th 1923. Morgan Building Wichita Falls,Texas. Mann, City attorney. ###t############## ,eO The application of the Wichita Falls Traction Company for a temp- orary franchise for a right of way to the junior college site was againztaken up with the protesttpg property owners and the membership of the Board of Education present. at the request of the mayor, the sentiment of the property owners was expressed by a rising vote and of the fourteen property owners present twelve voted as being opposed to the street car line being placed on Avenue G. a further hearing was granted the property owners effected by the proposed routes of the street car line and the Board was addressed by various property owners residing on avenue G who opposed the street car line being placed on that Street. The Board of Aldermen then went into executive session to consider those matters that may be considered in executive session. The Board of aldermen then went out of executive session. The Mayor announced that the majority of the Council at this time favored placing the proposed street car line on avenue H, however a final decision would not be announced until the property owners on avenue H, had been given an opportunity to express their views on the matter at a meeting to be held in the Council Chamber at 7 P. M.. The Board of aldermen then adjourned until 7 P. M. January 11,1923. ### ######f############# January 11, 1923 Morgan Building Wichita Palls, Texas. Mann, City attorney. i4ff#i##r` HF#u####z# The purpose of the meeting being to hear protests against a temp- orary franchise applied for by the Wichita Falls' Traction Company for a right of way to the Junior College site, various property owners residing on avenue4/ H and avenue G. voiced their protests and after hearing all pxotests the Mayor announced that the C until would carefully consider the rights of all concerned a.udi "46,;,,dee:.a.«,,wa*.flk 1 nsidered the best interests of the entire citizenship. The Board of Aldermen then went into executive session to consider those matters that may be considered in executive session. The Board of Aldermen then went out of executive session. Mbved by alderman Shepherd that the Wichita Falls Traction Company be granted a temporary franchise to construct a street car line from the Kemp Blvd., line at the junction of Avenue G, east from-ad-point to the inter- section of Jones Street, thence south on Jones street to the Junior College site. Motion seconded by Alderman Stayton and carried by the . obliwing vote:- Yeas: Shepherd, Sta#ton, Clifford. Bayes: Fitts, Heed. Moved by alderman Fitts that since the m#Joritz voted in faro* of the preceding motion made by alderman Shepherd thatrbote for the motion be made unanimous. Motion seconded by alderman Heed and carried by the following vote. Yeas:- Shepherd,Stayton, Clifford, Heed, Fitts. Bayes: Bone. The Board of aldermen then adjourned.
