October 21, 1954
The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, met in called session
�. on the above date, in the Council Roam of the Memorial Auditorium Building, at 1:00 o'clock
IP. M., with the following members present:
Lloyd C. Thomas Mayor
R. P. Willis #
J. Bailey Meissner Q Aldermen
Dr. E. Aubrey Cox
Gene Liepold
Geo. T. Henderson City Clerk
H. A. Thomason City Manager
J. Walter Friberg City Attorney
Mayor Thomas stated this meeting had been called for the purpose of holding a
Public Hearing on Ordinance No. 1697.
As advertised the public hearing of Ordinance No. 1697 was, in all respects, duly
held and there being no opposition whatsoever voiced against the same, the following motion
was held:
Moved by Alderman Cox that the Public Hearing on Ordinance No. 1697 be and the
same is hereby closed.
Motion seconded by Alderman Liepold and carried by the following vote:
Yeas: Aldermen Willis, Meissner, Cox and Liepold.
Nays: None.
ORDINANCE NO.1697
AN ORDINANCE EXTENDING THE CITY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS,
BY ANNEXING CERTAIN LANDS ADJACENT TO THE PRESENT TERRITORIAL LIMITS OF THE CITY OF
WICHITA FALLS, THE SAME LYING IN A SOUTHWESTERLY DIRECTION FROM THE PRESENT CITY LIMITS
OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, ALL OF WHICH ARE FULLY DESCRIBED IN THE BODY OF THIS
ORDINANCE. (UNIVERSITY PARK SUBDIVISION SECTION B-2).
Moved by Alderman Willis that Ordinance No. 1697 be and the same is hereby
approved and passed as read.
Motion seconded by Alderman Liepold and carried by the following vote:
Yeas: Aldermen Willis, Meissner, Cox and Liepold.
Nays: None.
Moved by Alderman Cox that the Board of Aldermen approve and authorize payment
to the Wichita General Hospital the sum of $7746.92 for charity patients for the month of
September.
Motion seconded by Alderman Liepold and carried.
Moved by Alderman Willis that the Board.of Aldermen endorse the Wichita General
Hospital fund—raising campaign to increase the bed capacity by approximately 57 beds.
Motion seconded by Alderman Meissner and carried unanimously.

RESOLUTION NO. 263
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS:
THAT, WHEREAS, Miss Junetta Watson as a reporter for the Wichita Falls Record
News, has for the past two years been assigned to report the activities of the City of
Wichita Falls and more particularly, its Board of Aldermen, for such newspaper; and
WHEREAS, Miss Junetta Watson has announced her resignation from such newspaper
and is moving out of the City of Wichita Falls;
a
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Aldermen duly assembled, does
hereby extend to Miss Watson its sincere thanks for the many courtesies that she has ex—
tended this board and the City Of Wichita Falls, and that we hereby express our appreciation
for her many courtesies and efficient and accurate reporting of City affairs. •
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Mr. Rhea
Howard, President of the Times Publishing Company, and that a copy hereof be duly signed
and forwarded to Miss Watson with the good wishes of this Council.
Moved by Alderman Cox that Resolution No. 263 be and the same is hereby adopted
and passed as read.
Motion seconded by Alderman Willis and carried.by the following vote:
Yeas: Aldermen Willis, Meissner, Cox and Liepold.
Nays: None.
Moved by Alderman Willis that the meeting be adjourned.
Motion seconded by Alderman Meissner and carried.
