Ordinance Amending Section 82-61 Of The Code Of Ordinances Of The
City Of Wichita Falls To Prohibit The Use Of Projectiles In Parks;
Providing A Penalty Of Up To $500 Upon Violation; And Providing For
Severability
WHEREAS, Section 82-61 of the Code of Ordinances currently prohibits only the
practice of golf (in any park not designated for that purpose); and,
WHEREAS, the City Council finds it necessary for the safety and welfare of its
citizens to specifically address other prohibited activities in parks.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
1 . Section 82-61 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Wichita Falls is hereby
amended so that such section shall hereafter read as follows:
Sec. 82-61. Prohibited projectiles in parks
It shall be unlawful for any person in any park, except in an area specifically
designated for such activity, to:
(1) Shoot or launch arrows, bullets, pellets, bolts, rocks, or other projectiles
from a bow, crossbow, firearm, compressed air gun, cannon, or slingshot,
(2) Discharge or launch model rockets, fireworks, or other combustion-
propelled devices, or
(3) Practice or play golf.
2. Violations of this ordinance shall be punishable by a penalty of up to $500 and
as provided by Section 1-14 of the Wichita Falls Code of Ordinances.
3. This ordinance amends the Code of Ordinances of the City of Wichita Falls and
is intended to be part of said Code. Accordingly, the provisions of said Section may be
renumbered or relettered to accomplish such intention.
