March 28, 1952 The Board of Aldermen of theCity of Wichita Falls, Texas, met in called session on the above date at 5:00 o'clock P.M., in the Council Room of the Memorial Auditorium Building, with the following members present: Harold Jones Mayor ' R. P. Willis 0 Francis L. Harvey 4 Aldermen J. R. Ray 0 I- R. J. Brown 0 II. T. Henderson City Clerk F. M. Rugeley Acting City Manager J. Walter Friberg City Attorney II 7 Mayor Harold Jones stated this meeting had been called for the purpose of considering the sale of an oil and gas lease on city-owned property. if " Moved by Alderman Harvey that the Board of Aldermen approve and authorize '. the sale of a 10 year commercial oil and gas lease to H. S. Grace, covering the East 1/2 of Block No. 22, of the Walker and Fletcher Cowherd Subdivision of League No. 1, DentonCounty School Lands, as shown by the Plat of Subdivision Record in 11 Book "U", Pages 420-421, Deed Records of Wichita County, Texas, and containing II- 80 acres of land, more or less, for a consideration of $4000.00, and to authorize / m;)k and empower Mayor Harold Jones to execute the same for and on behalf of theCity of Wichita Falls, Texas. 11 Motion seconded by Alderman Brown and carried by the following vote: 11 Yeas: Aldermen Willis, Harvey, Ray and Brown. 'tl Nays: None. i 1 Moved by Alderman Brown that the Board of Alderman authorize the issuance p` of a permit to Wichita City Lines, Inc. to install one 2000 gallon gasoline storage tank between the curb and sidewalk at 620 Scott St., providing the same is installed 111 in accordance with the requirements of the City Engineer. 1, Motion seconded by Alderman Willis and carried. RESOLUTION NO. 197 ,'' WHEREAS, Ben D. Donnell has throughout a lifetime in Wichita Falls fought for the ideals and sacred things of our city and has striven unceasingly to quicken I. the public's sense of civic duty, and WHEREAS, Ben D. Donnell for almost 50 years has given to our community all of the benefits of freedom of the press, without ever abusing or misusing the great power inuring to him because of it, and 111 WHEREAS, as Chairman of the Wichita Falls Public Housing Authority, Mr. Ben, 111 as he was affectionately called, has worked selflessly for more than five years to { provide decent living quarters for our unfortunate citizens and only last Tuesday com- IIIpleted his job when the contract for the final houses was let, and WHEREAS on all occasions, when duty whispered low "Thou must," - Ben D. Donnell replied, "I can." NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, that we express our sinoerest gratitude for the life and service of Ben D. Donnell and extend to his family our deepest sympathy. Unanimously adopted this 28th day of March, 1952, in meeting specially assembled. 143 Moved by Alderman Willis that Resolution No. 197 be approved and passed as read.
