Ordinance canvassing the returns of the General Municipal Election
held in the City of Wichita Falls, Texas on November 2, 2021
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Wichita Falls called for a General
Election ("the election") to be held in said City on November 2, 2021, to elect a Councilor
At-Large, Councilor District 1, and Councilor District 2; and,
WHEREAS, election officers who held the election have made the returns of the
results, and said returns have been delivered to the Canvassing Authority; and,
WHEREAS, it is officially found and determined that the meeting at which this
ordinance was passed was open to the public, and public notice of the time, place and
purpose of this meeting was given, all as required by the Texas Government Code; and
WHEREAS, after canvassing the official returns of the election, it was found to be
duly and legally held in all respects, that 4,267 voters voted in the election, and that votes
were cast as follows:
COUNCILOR AT-LARGE:
Bobby Whiteley received 2578 votes
John Ahearn received 1374 votes
COUNCILOR DISTRICT 1:
Carol Murray received 522 votes
Michael L. Smith received 629 votes
COUNCILOR DISTRICT 2:
Luis SernaMartinez received 131 votes
Larry Nelson received 205 votes
Write in: Paul Mason received 21 votes
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
1. The election was in all respects legally held in accordance with the laws of the
State of Texas and the Charter and the Ordinances of the City of Wichita Falls.
2. The City Council officially finds, determines and declares the results of the
election to be that: Bobby Whiteley was duly and legally elected as Councilor
At-Large; Michael L. Smith was duly and legally elected Councilor District 1;
and Larry Nelson was duly and legally elected Councilor District 2.
PASSED AND APPROVED this 9th day of November 2021 .
