November 21, 1980
We are requesting a variation from the Floor Damage Preventive Ordinance
in accordance with Section 15z - 36 for the proposed addition to our
facility, 1909 Old Jacksboro Hwy „ Wichita Falls,Texas.
The Flood Plain Development Permit application was taken out November
11, 1980, a Benchmark established, and the following data then deter-
mined:
One Hundred Year Floor elevation equals ------ 946.20
Finished Floor elevation for existing building --------- 945.32
We are requesting that a Building Permit be issued permitting the
proposed addition to meet the existing finished floor grade of 945.32
instead of 946.20,a variation of 0.88 feet. The request is based on the
following:
1. This addition is required to meet the expanded demands on our
Service Facility for the maintenance of the equipment being
used by the many construction projects in the area, the expand-
ed demand from the oil drilling operators, and the land fill
operations. (The closest facility for handling this maintenance
would be in the Fort Worth - Dallas metroplex.)
2. The split level floor operation would create a Safety Hazard
and hamper activities between stalls, use of craneways, shuttling
parts, supervision and final inspection.
3. The split level floor would be more costly. It would require
additional concrete foundation beams, longer concrete ramps at
the overhead door entries and parking curbs. The building
structure would have a higher roof height than the existing
building to accomodate the clearances required for the operation
of our craneways.

A higher roof at the connection between the existing
facility and the new addition would then present a
" Snow Load" condition requiring additional structural
amendments to the existing facility.
We would appreciate your favoring our request for deviating 0.88
feet from the Required Building Elevation of 946.20 feet.
Cordially yours,
DARR EQUIPMENT CO.
