Ms. Andrea Williams called the meeting to order at 4:15 P.M. A quorum was present. The
minutes of the October 28 meeting were approved as submitted. In the Librarian's Report, Ms. Hughes said
that the staff was thankful that December's traditional slow business was giving them a chance to catch up
after a very busy fall season. The new library cards have arrived and customers like the new plastic card
with key tag format very much. She said that an upgrade to the Horizon software was scheduled in January
which should fix the glitches in on -line requests and renewals. Ms. Hughes and Andrew Jelen will make a
presentation to City Council about the TexShare program.
Ms. Williams led a discussion of the one book, one community project. The project should take
about one year to complete and will involve various sectors of the community. Ms. Williams asked that the
other members bring a list of individuals or organizations that they believe would be interested in
participating in the project.
In Ms. Gregg's absence, Ms. Hughes reported that the Book Store continues to do well. The
Library receives frequent donations of materials it cannot use in its own collection for a variety of reasons.
Sale of these materials provide a steady income for the Friends group which in turn is spent on Library
needs and projects.
Ms Williams announced that the next meeting of the Library Advisory Board would be January 27
at 4:15 in the Conference Room. The meeting adjourned at 5 PM.
Respectfully submitted,
Linda Hughes, Library Administrator
