Min 08/27/1951 50 Wichita Falls, Testes Memorial Auditorium Building August 27, 1951 The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, met in called session on the above date, at 12:00 o'clock A. M. in the Council Room of the Memorial Auditorium Building, with the following members present: Harold Jones Mayor R. P. Willis ¢ Lloyd Thomas ➢ Franca L. Harvey 4 Aldermen J. R. Hay ➢ J. Paul Montgomery ➢ J. B. Nickerson City Clerk Frank Wood City Manager J. Walter Friberg City Attorney Mayor Jones announced that the purpose of the meeting was to consider bids on park shelters and acceptance of various paving contracts. Moved by Alderman Harvey that all bids received on the five proposed park restroom /and shelter buildings for the various parks be rejected tnd the City Manager, Frank Wood, be authorized to negotiate a new bid on the same for 41,995.00 each, subject to the written approval of the Park Board. Motion seconded by Alderman .Montgomery and-Carried. REPORT OF THE ENGINEER AS TO FINAL COMPLETION OF IMPROVEMENTS ON AVENUE H IN THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS. r TO THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS: Gentlemen: I beg to report that Stuckey Construction Company, a partnership, of Wichita Falls, Texas, to whom was awarded the contract for the improvement of certain streets and avenues in the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, has completed the improvements on, AVENUE R, from the West Edge of Pavement on Grant Street to the East Property Line of Wenonah Avenue, known and designated as Unit or District No. 49. The said improvements having been completed in strict accordance with the terms of said contract and specifications of said work adopted by the City, I hereby recommend that the said improvements be finally accepted by the Board of Aldermen: Dated this 25th day of August, 1951. /s/ F. RESOLUTION NO. 141 RESOLUTION ACCEPTING IMPROVEMENTS ON A PORTION OF AVENUE R AND DIRECTING THE ISSUANCE AND DELIVERY OF CERTIFICATES IN EVIJENCE OF SPECIAL ASSESSMENTS LEVIED. WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls heretofore entered into a contract with Stuckey Construction Company, a partnership, of Wichita Falls, Texas, for the making and construc- tion of certain improvements on the following portion of Avenue it in said City to wit: AVENUE R, from the West Edge of Pavement on Grant Street to the East Property Line of Wenonah Avenue, known and designated as Unit or District No. 49. and, WHEREAS, such improvements have been completed upon said portion of Avenue H and have been inspected and found to be complete in accordance with the contract therefor, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT: 51 1. The improvements on said portion of Avenue R be, and they are hereby, accepted; and the contract with reference to the construction of such improvements be, and is hereby, found and declared fully completed and performed. 2. The Mayor be, and he is hereby directed to issue and execute in the name of the City, certificates in evidence of the special assessments, levied against abutting property and owners thereof for such improvements, and the City Clerk is directed to execute same and impress thereon the eorporate seal, all in accordance with the pro- ceedings relating to such improvements and assessments; such certificates shall be de- livered to said Company. 3. This resolution shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage. Moved by Alderman Willis that Resolution No. 141 be approved and passed as read. Motion seconded by Alderman Thomas and carried by the following voter. Yeas: Aldermen Willis, Thomas, Harvey, Ray, and Montgomery. Nays: None. REPORT OF THE ENGINEER AS TO PIS COMPLETION OF IMPROVEMENTS ON BITL STREET, IN THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS. TO THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS. Gentlemen: I peg to report that Stuckey Construction Company, a partnership, of Wichita Falls, Texas, to whom was awarded the contract folhe improvement of certain streets and avenues in the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, has completed the improvements on, BM STREET, from the South Property Line of Avenue E to the North Property Line of Avenue G, known and designated as Unit or District No. 27. The said improvements having been completed in strict accordance with the terms of said contract and speciafications of said work adopted by the City, I hereby recom- mend that the said improvements be finally accepted by the Board of Aldermen: Dated this 25th day of August, 1951. /s/ F. Rugeley, City Engineer RESOLUTION NO. 142 RESOLUTION ACCEPTING IMPROVEMENTS ON A PORTION OF FELT STREET AND DIRECTING THE ISSUANCE AND DELIVERY OF CERTIFICATES IN EVIDENCE OF SPECIAL AS.SFSSMENTS LEVIED. WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls heretofore entered into a contract with Stuckey Construction Company, a partnership, of Wichita Falls, Texas, for the making and construction of certain improvements on the following portion of Bell Street in said City to wit: FRU.T STREET, from the South Property Line of Avenue E to the North Property Line of Avenue E to the North Property Line of Avenue G, known and designated • as Unit or District No. 27. and, WHEREAS, such improvements have been completed upon said portion of Bell Street and have been inspected and found to be complete in accordance with the contract therefor, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT: 1. The improvements on said portion of Bell Street be, and they are hereby, accepted; and the contract with reference to the construction of such improvements be, and Is hereby, found and declared fully completed and performed. 411 2. The Mayor be, and he is hereby directed to issue and execute in the name of the City, certificates in evidence of the special assessments, levied against abutting property and owners thereof for such improvements, and the City Clerk is directed to execute same and impress thereon the corporate seal, all in accordance with the pro- ceedings relating to such improvements and assessments; such certificates shall be de- livered to said Company. 3. The improvements on said portion of Woodrow Avenue be, and they are hereby, accepted; end the contract with reference to the construction of such improvements be, and is hereby, found and declared fully completed and performed. 2. The Mayor be, and he is hereby directed to issue and execute in the name of the City, certificates in evidence of the special assessments, levied against abutting property and owners thereof for such improvements, and the City Clerk is directed to execute same and impress thereon the corporate seal, all in accordance with the pro- ceedings relating to such improvements and assessments; such certificates shall be de- livered to said Company. 3. Rugeley, City Engineer RESOLUTION NO. 144 RESOLUTION ACCEPTING IMPROVEMENTS ON A PORTION OF CHEROKEE STREET AND DIhECTING THE ISSUANCE AND DELIVERY OF CERTIFICATES IN EVIDENCE OF SPECIAL ASSESSMENTS LEVIED. WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls heretofore entered into a contract with Stuckey Construction Company, a partnership, of Wichita Falls, Texas, for the making and construction of certain improvements on the following portion of Cherokee Street in said City to wit: CHEROKEE STREET, from the South Property Line of Speedway Avenue to the North Curb Line of Woodrow Avenue, known and designated as Unit or District No. 33. and, WHEREAS, such improvements have been completed upon said portion of Cherokee Street and have been inspected and found to be complete in accordance with the contract. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT: 1. The improvements on said portion of Cherokee Street be, and they are hereby, accepted; and the contract with reference to the construction of such improvements be, and is hereby, found and declared fully completed and performed. 2. The Mayor be, and he is hereby directed to issue and execute in the name of the City, certificates in evidence of the special assessments, levied against abutting property and owners thereof for such improvements, and the City Clerk is directed to execute same and impress thereon the corporate seal, all in accordance with the pro- ceedings relating to such improvements and assessments; such certificates shall be delivered to said Company. 3. This resolution shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage. Moved by Alderman Montgomery that Resolution No. 144 be approved and passed as read. Motion seconded by Alderman Thomas and carried by the following vote: Yeas: Alderman Willis, Thomas, Harvey, Ray, and Montgomery. Nays: None. Moved by Alderman Ray that Mayor Harold Jones be authorized to sign a water main coat act in the amount of $1,900.00, for and on behalf of the City of Wichita Falls, with T. R. Boone, Jr., same to be paid at 33-1/3 per cent of the water revenue from Linden Place, payments to be made July lst of each year. f Motion seconded by Alderman Thomas and carried. 1 54 Moved by Alderman Harvey that the July bill of the Wichita General Hospital for charity patients in the amount of $6,768.80 be paid, upon payment of a like sum by Wichita County, and order the City Clerk to draw a warrant in payment. Motion,seconded by Alderman Thomas and carried. The minutes of the meeting held Augi¢st 13, 1951 were read and approved as read. Now Moved by Alderman Ray that the meeting be adjourned.
