1. CALL TO ORDER:
Marcy Brown Marsden called the meeting to order at 1:30 p.m.
2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
The minutes from December 10, 2020 minutes were put before the Board for
approval. Jim Heiman made the motion to approve the minutes and Sandy
Fleming seconded the motion.
Recognize new Park Board Memebers Lard Jacoby and Thomas Taylor.
Penny Miller guess speaker with Texas Master Naturalist: presented a "Adop-a-
Loop on updating information about trail sites as well as provide information
about the plants, animals along the trail. Also naminations for Rename Lucy
Park, Lucy Park-River Bend Nature Center, add Lake Wichita Park and Wichita
Bluff Nature Area, highlighting the Circle Trail.
Endorsement for approval was made by Sandy Fleming and seconded the
motion was Jessic Traw.
3. DEPARTMENTAL REPORT:
A. RECREATION: Scott McGee
• 50+ Zone is operating 30 hour a week. Seventy to one hundred
members are checking in per day. No problems have been reported
• Recreation continues to have six classes open to the public now.
• Working on opening up special events kids fishing rodeo, Easter Egg
Hunt, opening up concert in parks in March/April.
• Opening registration for Softball, Kickball and Volleyball on line.
• Weeks Tennis Center will not be resurfaced and using money for the
repairs on Hamilton Tennis Center building.
• New Parks & Recreation 10 year master plan being put together
checking on price quotes and cost of designing the plan.
B. Parks: Terry Points
• Transitioning winter to spring. Spraying weeds that are coming up
• Several Parks dept. employee were affectedeither by Covid 19,
positive or by contact so operating shorthanded. -
• New playground equipment going in at Westover Hill, Edgemere and
Kiwanis.
• Hamilton park splash pad moving slowly
• Trail connected near Smith Garden being made
• Loop 11 to Lucy park pouring concrete, drainage structures took a
while to construct.
• Lake Wichita Park has a huge problem with wild hogs from
Southwest parkway to Murphy's hill at Lake Wichita.
• Hogs digging in Rosemont cemetery
• Kiwanis new playground equipment is half way finished
