Min 05/21/1951 1.5 Wichita Falls, Texas Memorial Auditorium Building May 21, 1951 The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, met in regular called session in the Council Room in Memorial Auditorium, at 8:00 o'clock P. M. on the above date with the following members present: Harold Jones, Mayor R. P. Willis, Lloyd C. Thomas, J. R. Ray, Aldermen J. Paul Montgomery, R. J. Brown, J. B. Hickerson, City Clerk Frank Wood, City Manager J. Walter Friberg, City Attorney Mayor Harold Jones announced the purpose of the meeting to be the consideration of the request of Texas Electric Service Company for an increase of its rates in Wichita Falls. After much discussion on the above request by Texas Electric Service Company representatives and members of the Board of Aldermen, the following motion was had: Moved by Alderman Brown that action on the rate increase request of Texas Electric Service Company be deferred to May 28, 1951, the next regular meeting of the City Council. Seconded by Alderman R. P. Willis and carried. RESOLUTION #127 It has come to the attention of the City Council of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, that the American National Red Cross is planning a large scale enlargement of its Blood Program, and the Council has also been notified that the Wichita County Chapter of the American National Red Cross will make application for the establishment of a Regional Blood Center in the City of Wichita Falls, and Whereas the Council feels that such a project is one that deserves its wholehearted support, NOW, THEREFORE, the following resolution on motion duly made and seconded was unanimously adopted by the Council: BE U RESOLVED, that the Mayor and other City Officials lend their full support to the Wichita County Chapter of the American Red Cross in bringing about the establishment of a Regional Blood Center in this city and that the City Council of Wichita Falls, by this resolution, indicates its willingness to help secure a location for such a center and, if advisable, to enter into discussions with representatives of the American National Red Cross for the location of such a Center on any desirable property that the City of Wichita Falls may own. Moved by Alderman Thomas that Resolution/be approved and adopted as read. Motion seconded by Alderman Montgomery and carried. fr 16 Moved by Alderman Brown that the meeting be adjourned.
