The meeting was called to order at 5:43 p.m. by chairperson Brenda
Jarrett at the Martin Luther King Center.
The minutes of the meeting of August 4, 1994 stood approved as
distributed.
First order of business was the purpose of the Eastside Revital-
ization Committee to develope the Eastside because we need im-
provements to the community. It is time for the younger generation
to take control and put back into the community. This includes
District 2, also.
Name Change
A discussion was held concerning renaming the Eastside Revitalization
Committee to the District 2 Revitalization Committee. The reason
for the name change is to include all of District 2 into the
revitalization program. With the renaming to District 2 Revital-
ization Committee this would let all people living in District 2
know that they were also a part of the revitalization and not just
the Eastside. A vote was taken for the name change and was app-
roved.

Letter
Review of the draft of the business courtesy letter that is to be
sent to all business on Eastside Drive. This letter asked all
business to keep their business looking good and if they need any
help to let the committee know.
Eastside Drive
Mr. Self state that Eastside Drive is a State Highway and will
look into the matter of the weeds in the center median on East -
side Drive, putting in handicapp ramps, and the contact gaps in
the street. The part of Eastside Drive from Seventh north to
Airport Drive(FM 890 to Spur 90) needs beautification. The removal
of the concrete dividers and resurfacing from Seventh to Bell
Construction is possible.
Eastside Drive Name Change
A discussion was held concerning the possible changing of Eastside
to Martin Luther King Drive. It was stated that there was a lot
of cost involved to business and residential property owners. There
are more business on Eastside Drive than there are residents. The
question come up as to how to go about getting the name changed and
the steps are:petition for name change and survey, cost of change,
and to get as little opposition as possible to the name change.
The committee will look into it further.
Closing remarks were offered by President Brenda Jarrett.
Meeting adjourned at 7:15 p.m.
