Williams Eastside Revitalization Committee Thursday, March 10, 1994 City Staff: Steve Seese David Lehfeldt Mike Little Richard Luedke Stan Luna The meeting was called to order at 5:40 PM by Secretary Brenda Jarrett. Minutes stood approved as distributed. Officer Mike Little gave a presentation on the Neighborhood Watch Program. The purpose of these groups are to bring neighborhoods together. Officer Little passed out a brochure on starting new watch groups along with a residential security manual. He also stressed the idea that a group is more powerful than the individual. Neighborhood Watch street signs are available for $8 apiece. Officer Little also explained how different types of locks can discourage break-ins. He also noted that neighborhood watch groups can look for code violations and report them to Code Enforcement. David Lehfeldt, Sanitation Superintendent for the City of Wichita Falls, reported on several programs available through his department. Newsprint recycling and compost recycling programs were described. Mr. Lehfeldt talked about Clean Country held in conjunction with the Texas Trash Off, a city-wide clean up program scheduled for April 9. Sanitation will provide 8 roll out dumpsters to be placed throughout the city during this project. Mr. Lehfeldt is in the process of gathering information on a paint recycling program where the recycled paint is sold for $1 for a 5 gallon bucket. He also described operations at the Transfer Station located on Lawrence Road. Stan Luna, Paint Program Coordinator for the City of Wichita Falls described the requirements and procedures for the Paint Program. The Committee agreed that the various programs presented at this meeting along with others available need to be publicized to the residents of the community. With this in mind, the group decided to begin planning for a neighborhood meeting to include residents from Lynwood, Kemp-Sunnyside, and the MLK area. The meeting adjourned at 7:10 PM.
