Resolution authorizing the City of Wichita Falls to provide to the
Wichita Falls Independent School District up to $158,880 in COVID
CARES Act funds for resources related to the continuation of online
learning, in compliance with guidance from the Texas Department of
Emergency Management
WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls is eligible for reimbursement of expenses in
alignment with the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act, through
the Texas Department of Emergency Management; and,
WHEREAS, cases of COVID-19 are increasing in the City and public health
measures require exposed or infected students to learn from home; and,
WHEREAS, the Wichita Falls Independent School District is in need of
Chromebooks to continue online learning required by public health measures in response
to the Pandemic; and,
WHEREAS, this expenditure is a qualified expenditure for this funding source.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
The City will make an appropriation to the Wichita Falls Independent School
District in the amount of $158,880.00 for the purchase of Chromebooks required to
facilitate online learning and in accordance with the terms of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief
and Economic Security (CARES) Act and the Texas Department of Emergency
Management.
