Ordinance Authorizing The City Manager To Execute A Grant
Agreement and Appropriate Funds In The Amount Of $292,500 From
The Office Of Economic Adjustment, U.S. Department Of Defense For
The Purpose Of Consultant Services For the Development Of A
Regional Sheppard Air Force Base Joint Land Use Study
WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls and surrounding partner communities
recognize the continued operation of Sheppard Air Force Base (SAFB) is vital to the
regional economy and supports the development of a Joint Land Use Study (JLUS) with
Sheppard AFB, including the United States Air Force auxiliary air field in Frederick,
Oklahoma, to protect future operational capabilities;
WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls and surrounding partner communities in
Texas and Oklahoma recognize that participation in and development of a JLUS will
benefit the health, safety and general welfare of the residents of the greater Wichita
Falls region; and
WHEREAS, the Office of Economic Adjustment, U.S. Department of Defense has
tentatively awarded funds to the City of Wichita Falls.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to accept, execute and enter into
an agreement with the Office of Economic Adjustment for a Community Economic
Adjustment Planning Assistance grant for the purpose of conducting a Joint Land Use
Study.
2. Funds in the amount of $292,500 are hereby appropriated for purposes of
development of a Joint Land Use Study. Such funding shall be matched by previously
appropriated General Funds in the amount of $5,445 and in -kind staff time of $27,055.
