1. CALL TO ORDER:
Marcy Brown Marsden called the meeting to order at 1:30 p.m.
2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
The minutes from January 27, 2020 were put before the Board for approval.
Caitlyn Wood made the motion to approve the minutes and Jim Heiman
seconded the motion.
3. DEPARTMENTAL REPORT:
A. RECREATION: Scott McGee
• No report, due to Scott McGee being out
B. Parks: Terry Points
• Wichita Medical Alliance meeting was held and they raised two
hundred seventy thousand in fund raising projects, for the Splash
pad at Hamilton Park. The project should last 60 days, construction
to start in June.
• New playground equipment was delivered from CBDG funding.
Playgrounds are being installed at the same time at Scotland,
Spudder & O'Reily
• Scotland pavilion on north end of park is nearing completion, waiting
on sidewalk with handicap ramp. This is going to be a first come first
serve pavilion equipped with 10 tables, 4 trash bins. At this time,
there is no power or restrooms.
Conoco Park is housing 76-meter wind turbine blades, the largest to
come through North Texas. The blades arrived by rail and are being
move by truck to Knox City Texas. They will be going through the
intersection at Loop 11 and Seymour Hwy due to the size of load; it
will take out a landscaping tringle. The logistics are paying the city
twenty one thousand dollars for the damages of the intersection. Two
trees will be removed and move possibly to the Wichita Bluff area.
In October 2018, Scott Hutchinson approached the park board about
putting trails behind Wichita Bluff for motor cross. At this time, the
Park Board Committee did not approve for trails. Parks D found out
via Facebook that trails were being worked on. Terry Points with
Parks spoke with Scott Hutchinson and ask not to proceed with the
project until further notice.
• Boardwalk project at Lake Wichita coming along. Parks have built 30
fish habitat to go under boardwalk.
• Lawrence Road / Maplewood extension project will be taking out half
of the watermill yard.
Disc Golf Association are putting signs at each T-box, showing
where you are at and where you are throwing too. Signs are selling
$100 each for sponsors these will be at Lucy Park and Lake Wichita
parks.
4. Other Business, Announcements, Comments
• Lake Wichita Revitalization committee are still waiting on soil sample
results.
• Completed last check for the boardwalk project.
• Veteran Plaza walk way is being negotiated on length and cost.
