The Board of Aldermen of the City of ;;ichita Falls met in
regular session on the above date'with the following members present:

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
The hearing on the application of the Continental Oil Company
for a permit to contract and operate a gasoline filling station on the
corner of Eleventh Street and Brook Avenue on Lots 18 and 19, Block 262,
Original Townsite, was called and after hearing a petition signed by 43
property owners residing within a radius of 300 feet of the proposed
location and considering all other matters realtive thereto, the follow-
ing motion was put in order.
Moved by Alderman Curd that the Continental Oil Company be
denied a permit to erect and maintain a gasoline filling station on
Lots, 18 and 19, Block 262, Original Townsite for the following reasons,
towit:
(1) The construction and operation of said filling station
will cause a fire hazard.
(2) This being a congested corner the operation of said
filling station will be a serious handicap to traffic.
(3) It will inure property values in a strictly residential
district.
(4) It will be a detriment to the health, peace and comfort
of all surrounding property owners.
Motion seconded by Alderman Patton and carried.
Moved by Alderman Hunt that the Mayor be authorized to sign
a supplemental contract with Bert King for Sewer and Water Lines in
Rivercrest Addition.
Motion seconded by Alderman Jones and carried.
The hearing with reference to paving Seventh Street from
Broad to Burnet was called and after hearing no protests the follow-
ing motion was put in order.
Moved by Alderman Patton that the following resolution be
adopted.
Motion seconded by Alderman Hunt and carried by the following

ING FOR THE CONSTRUCTION THEREOF BY CONTRACT AND PROVIDING FOR THE

PAYMENT OF THE COST OF SUCH IMPROVEMENTS. LEVYING ASSESSMENT THEREOF,
AND MIXING THE TERMS AND TIMES OF PAYMENTS, AND THE RATE OF INTEREST
THEREON, AND PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE OF ASSIGNABLE CERTIFICATES; AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

first reading.

ORDINANCE NO 861
ORDINANCE CHANGING THE NAMES OF VMOUS STREETS IN THE CITY OF
WICHITA FAILS, AND NAMING THE ALLEYWAY IdMICH RUNS NORTH AND SOUTH IN BLOCK
232, ORIGINAL TOWNSITE TO THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, TO ROBERTSON
STREET.
Moved by Alderman Hunt that Ordinance No. 861 be passed on its
third and final reading, and be adopted as read.
vote: Motion seconded by Alderman Curd and carried by the following
Yeas: Aldermen Hunt, Curd, Jones and Patton.
Nays: None.
Moved by Alderman Hunt that the deed of B. Y. Bean et al,"cover-
ing Lot 14, Block 38, Original Townsite for park purposes, dated April 6th,
1922, be received and accepted and the Tax Assessor be instructed to remit
City Taxes assessed against this property for the years 1922, 1923, 1924,
1925 and 1926.
Motion seconded by Alderman Curd and carried.
Moved by Alderman Bones that the salary of r'rank Ross, janitor
at the City Hall, be raised $10.00 per month.
Motion seconded by Alderman Hunt and carried.
Moved by Alderman Hunt that the bill or Ira S. Harris, special
auditor, for the month of December, in the amount of 0200.00 be approved
and allowed as follows: General Fund, y161.00, Water Fund �;39.00.

Moved by Alderman Curd that the City Clerk be instructed to place
the following advertisement in the Wichita Daily Times for bids for removing
and reconstructing Fire Station 7-r14.
"NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS"
Sealed bids for moving—Y and reconstructing a brick fire station
building now located at 1310 Seventh Street to a new location
on the West 90 feet of Lots 17 and 18, Block A, Warford's Sub -
Division, will be received by the Board of Aldermen of the City
of Wichita Falls in the Council Chamber in the Basement of the
City National Bank Building until 7:30 o'clock P. M. January
loth, 1927, and then publicly opened. Alternate bids for moving
said building in whole and in sections or razing and reconstuct-
ing entirely may be filed. Plans and specifications may be
obtained at the office of Jerry M. Schaeffer, Architect, Staley
Building, Wichita Falls, Texas, or at the office of the City Clerk.

Moved by Alderman Jones that the insurance firm of lilliams
& Dwyer be extended a vote of thanks for the safety traffic signs
placed by them an the streets around the school buildings.
Motion seconded by Alderman Patton and carried.
Moved by Alderman Patton that the City Clerk be authorized
to cancel various uncollectible tree spraying accounts for the year
1926, in the amount of W23.75, as per list furnished the Council.
Motion seconded by Alderman Jones and carried.
Moved by Alderman Jones that the City Clerk be authorized
to cancel the account of the Texas -Oklahoma Fair Association in the
amount of �168.50 covering road repairs during the year 1923.
Motion seconded by Alderman Patton and carried.
Moved by Alderman Jones that the Water Department be auth-
orized to purchase 64,000 pounds of 16 inch cast iron, class "B" pipe
and the necessary fittings at the best bid price at date of purchase.
Motion seconded by Alderman Patton and carried.
Moved by Alderman Curd that the Mayor be authorized to sign
a rent contract for subleasing the un-used part of the Basement of the
City National Bank Building, now leased to the Water Department to
Joel Douglas for a consideration of @65.00 per month.
Motion seconded by Alderman Jones and carried.
Moved by Alderman Hunt that the Plumbing an ectr_�cal
Inspectors be instructed to issue clearances on gas o the
Municipal Gas Company and on electrical work to the Wichita Falls
Electric Company, and to accept orders for final inspectionsfrom the
owners of the property.to be inspected, when called upon to do so,�
Motion seconded by Alderman Curd and carried.
Moved by Alderman Jones that the Tax Collector be authorized
to remit the penalty of w1.58 on taxes accruing against Lot 14, Comb's
Sub -division for the year 1925.
Motion seconded by Alderman Hunt and carried.
Moved by Alderman Hunt that the Tax Collector be instructed
to reduce the valuation of the Oil Center Lumber Company from @10,220.00
to �6,800.00 for the year 1926, and remit penalty and cost on delin-
quent taxes of this company for the year 1924.

Moved by Alderman Hunt that the City Clerk be instruc4ed to
draw warrant on the St. Imp. Fund in the amount of 015,000.00 to cover
partial estimate of excavation cost for pavement in Country Club Estates.
Warrant to be payable to Hamilton-lartin investment Company.
Motion seconded -by Alderman -Jones and carried.,
The Board of Aldermen then adjourned.
