met in regular session on the above date with the following members

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
The hearing with reference to paving BridC'iell Street from
Pearl to Speedway Streets, was called and after hearing protests, the
following motion -aas put in order.

7:30 r. M. December 27th, 1926.

MAYOR'S PROCLAMATION
Whi&EAS, We are nearing the season of Christmas joys and
gladness, in order that it may not prove to be a season of death and
sorrow to many, I, R. E. Shepherd, Mayor of Wichita Falls, Texas, do
hereby urge the citizens of this City to co-operate in every way with
the City and State Fire Marshals in preventing the loss of property
and lives from preventable fires during the holidays. I would urge
all to refrain from the dangerous practice of placing lighted candles
on Christmas trees, the dressing of Santa Claus in cotton and other
inflammable materials, and the placing of lighted candles in the
windows. All children should be prohibited from handling fireworks,
burning trash, making bonfires, eto.

Seal of the City to be attached hereto, this the 21st day of December
1926.

Moved by Alderman Hunt that the application for a permit to
construct a filling station on Lot 18, Block 262, Original Townsite,
filed by the Continental Oil Company be received and the City Clerk
be instructed to advertise a public hearing to be held in the Council
Chamber in the Basement of the City National Bank Building at 7:30
P. M., January 3, 1927, for the purpose of hearing protests.

Moved by Alderman Jones that the action of Commissioner Patton
in the employment of Guy Powell to replace J. T. Murrell, City Chemist
and Dairy Inspector, at a salary of ;200.00 per month effective Decem-
ber 20th, 1926, be approved.

Moved by Alderman Curd that the Mayor be authorised to
execute three (3) Sewer Pipe Line License Agreements covering the cost
of six inch sewer lines under the Wichita Falls & Oklahoma Railway
Right of Way at mile posh # AO-74, AQ-81 and AO-68, respectively, and
the City Clerk be instructed to draw warrant payable to the Wichita
Falls & Oklahoma Railway Company in the amount of $45.00 to cover
the cost therein mentioned.
