The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, met in regular session on the above date with the following members present: R. E. Shepherd, Mayor, Ural Jones, ) F. B. Curd, ) J. W. Hunt, ) Aldermen, J. H. Patton, ) rrank Queisser, ) W. B. McBroom, City Clerk, W. E. George, City Attorney. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. The hearing with reference to paving BridC'iell Street from Pearl to Speedway Streets, was called and after hearing protests, the following motion -aas put in order. i,.oved by Alderman Curd that the hearing be continued until 7:30 r. M. December 27th, 1926. Motion seconded by Alderman Queisser and carried. Moved by Alderman Jones that the following proclamation be issued by the Mayor. MAYOR'S PROCLAMATION Whi&EAS, We are nearing the season of Christmas joys and gladness, in order that it may not prove to be a season of death and sorrow to many, I, R. E. Shepherd, Mayor of Wichita Falls, Texas, do hereby urge the citizens of this City to co-operate in every way with the City and State Fire Marshals in preventing the loss of property and lives from preventable fires during the holidays. I would urge all to refrain from the dangerous practice of placing lighted candles on Christmas trees, the dressing of Santa Claus in cotton and other inflammable materials, and the placing of lighted candles in the windows. All children should be prohibited from handling fireworks, burning trash, making bonfires, eto.
