The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls met
in regular session on the above date with the following members
present:

Oral Jones, )

W.E. McBroom, City Clerk,
W.E. George, City Attorney.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
The hearing on application of D.A. Brundage for a business
building at the corner of Brook and Speedway was called, and after
receiving a petition of protest signed by a large number of
property owners the following motion was put in order:
Moved by Alderman Hunt that the permit be denied.
Motion seconded by Alderman Queisser and carried.
Moved by Alderman Hunt that the plat and dedication of
Havener Park addition be accepted and approved.
Motion seconded by Alderman Curd and carried.
Moved by Alderman Queisser that the Southwestern Bell
Telephone Company be authorized to place an emergency gasoline
storage tank between the curb and sidewalk on Ninth Street abutting
the telephone building.
Motion seconded by Alderman Curd and carried.
Moved by Alderman Patton that the Mayor be authorized to
issue a deed conveying the West half of lot No. 572 Riverside
Cemetery to the heirs of S.H. Adams, deceased.
Motion seconded by Alderman Curd and carried.
ORDINANCE NO. 829.
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 461 PASSED AND APPROVED
BY THE.BOARD DF--ALDERMEN OF THE CITY —OF WICHITA FALLS ON THE 27th
DAY OF AUGUST 1923, ENTITLED: "AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A CITY POUND
PREVENTING THE RUNNING AT LARGE OF CERTAIN ANIMAAND PROVIDING FOR
THEIR DESTRUCTION IN CERTAIN CASES AND PROVIDING PENALTY".
Moved by Alderman Queisser that Ordinance No. 829 be
passed on its second reading.

Moved by Alderman Quebser that the petition for construction
of certain sewer lines to serve the Bowie gehool Community be referred
to Commissioner Patton.
Motion seconded by Alderman Jones and carried.
Moved by Alderman Jones that Mrs. T.S. Crouch be appointed
to serve as a clerk to replace W.S. Abbott in the Court House Box
and C.W. Jensen be appointed as a clerk to replace Robert McCullough
in the City Hall Box in the Special Bond Election to be held on
September 30, 1926.
Motion seconded by Alderman Curd and carried by the following
vote:
Yeas: Aldermen Jones, Curd, Patton, Hunt, and Queisser.
Nays: None.
The following request from the Wichita Falls Traction Company
was read by the Mayor:
September 27, 1926.
Honorable Mayor and City Council,
Wichita Falls, Texas.
Gentlemen,
The authority granted us by your Honorable Body to charge 6�
fare will expire October 1, 1926.
Therefore, we kindly ask you to give us the privilege of
continuing to charge 6¢ on city lines, allowing a 3� fare to school
ohildren when tickets are purchased.
If you will pass a resolution authorizing this charge from
October 1, 1926 to October 1, 1928, it will be greatly appreciated
by us, as you realize that conditions have not changed very materially
during the past two years, and it is impossible for us to operate
for any less than a 6¢ fare.
Thanking you in advance for this kind favor, we are

Moved by Alderman Curd that the Wichita Falls Traction
Company be authorized to continue to charge a 6� fare to __dults
and 3V fare to school children when tickets are purchased for the
period October 1, 1926 to October 1, 1928.
Motion seconded by Alderman Hunt and carried.
Moved by Alderman Hunt that the band directed by
R.A. Brollier be allowed to use the name "Wichita Falls Municipal
Band" for its title, provided that the City of Wichita Falls
shall not be held responsible in any way for the operation of
this band.

Moved by Alderman Patton that the deed tendered by
N.F. and H.C. Weeks conveying to the City for Park purposes
257.4 acres of land on Holliday Creek be accepted and the park
site so conveyed he officially designated as Week's Park.
Motion seconded by Alderman Jones and carried.
Moved by Alderman Jones that the following Resolution
be adopted.

the following vote:

WHEREAS:

The Board of Aldermen has heretofore entered
into contract with W.F. and H.C. Weeks for the acquisition of
certain land on Holiday Creek south of the City limits for a
public park, and,
WHEREAS, all conditions specified in said contract have
been met and a warranty deed to said land has been tendered the
City by W.F. & H.C. Weeks and accepted;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN
OF THE CITY OF ',ICHITA FALLS, TEXAS:
I.
That this Board express its hearty appreciation of the
splendid spirit of Civic interest manifested by W.F. and H.C. Weeks
in the offer of the beautiful Park site of 257.4 acres of land
lying on Holiday Creek;
II.
That such offers as this are certainly prompted by
unselfish motives and truly exemplify the spirit of the best
citizens of the "City of Faith".

Moved by Alderman Queisser that Dr. A.H. Douglass be authorized
to attend the Southwest Plater works Convention at Shreveport, La.,
October llth to 17th.
Motion seconded by Alderman Jones and carried.
Moved by Alderman Jones that the bill of L.E. whitham &
Company in the amount of $1139.76 covering payment of pavement on
Broad Street abutting the city &aqueduct be approved and allowed out
of the water Fund.
Motion seconded by .aderman Curd and carried.
Moved by Alderman Curd that Alderman Jones be permitted to
be absent from the next three meetings of the Board of Aldermen.

Moved by Alderman Jones that the taxes for the years 1910
to 1925 inclusive, together with interest penalties k.nd costs in the
amount of $101.84 on the North half of lot 9, block 8, Granger-Ballew
_addition be remitted.
Motion seconded by slderman Patton and carried.
Moved by Alderman Jones that the County Auditor's reports
on financial affairs of the General Hospital for the months of
July and August 1926 be approved.
Motion seconded by Alderman Hunt and carried.
Moved by Alderman Queisser that the meeting be adjourned.

The Board of Aldermen then adjourned.
