The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas met in regular session on the above date with the following members present: P. B. Curd, 4 J. W. Hunt, Q Aldermen Oral Jones, 4 Frank Queisser, Q W. E. McBroom, City Clerk W. E. George, City Attorney. Moved by Alderman Hunt that Alderman Curd be appointed Mayor Pro Tem to serve during the absence from the City of Mayor R. E. Shepherd. Motion seconded by Alderman Queisser and carried unani- mously. The Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Moved by Alderman Hunt that the City Clerk be authorized to draw warrantspayable to L. E. Whitham and Company to cover cost of siphon constructed on Cherokee Street as follows: Street Improvement Fund $337.50 Water Fund 112.50 Total r0=. Motion seconded by Alderman Jones and carried. Gentlemen: This certifies that the Plains Paving Company has completed the paving and otherwise improving of Scott Avenue from its intersec- tion with the Center line of Sixth Street to its intersection with the Center Line of Second Street in accordance with the plans and specifications therefor and I hereby recommend the acceptance of the above described work. RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE "'ORK OF PAVING AND OTHERWISE IMPROVING A PORTION OF SCOTT AVENUE AND AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION AND DELIVERY OF SPECIAL ASSESSMENT CERTIFI- CATES. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERVEN OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT: WHEREAS, the City Engineer has certified that the paving and otherwise improving Scott Avenue from its intersection with the Center line of Sixth Street to its intersection with the Center line of Second Street, has been completed by the Plains. Paving Company in accordance with the plans and specifications therefor and the said City Engineer recommends the acceptance of the said work by the City. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF ALDER',EN OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FAILS, TEXAS. THAT, said paving and other improvements be and the same are hereby accepted by the pity of Wichita Falls, Texas, and the Mayor be and is hereby authorized and directed to execute special assessment certificates evidencing the indebtedness of the owners of the property abutting on said portion of street, in the name of the City of Wichita Falls, and the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to attest same and to impress the Seal of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, and to deliver said Special assessment certificates to the Plains Paving Company, as set forth in the contract, for the above named improve- ments, all in accordance with the ordinances and resolutions heretofore adopted and passed by the City of Wichita Falls, with reference to the above described improvements. Chapman, traffic officer, be raised from 9$140.00 to $150.00 effective May n 16, 1926 and the -salary of Lyle Donohue, plain clothesman, be raised from $150.00 to $165.00 per month effective June 1, 1926. Motion seconded by Alderman Hunt and carried. Moved by Alderman .Tones that the Hudson -Essex Company be allowed to break the curb at 1103 Scott Avenue for a distance of approximately eight (8) feet. Motion seconded by Alderman Hunt and carried. Moved by Alderman Hunt that the application of E. A. Scott for a permit to construct and operate a grocery store at the corner of Fifth Street and Scott Avenue be received and a public hearing held at 7:30 P. M., June 14, 1926 for the pun - pose of hearing protests; said hearing to be held in the Council Chamber in the basement of the City National Bank Building. Motion seconded by Alderman Jones and carried. Moved by Alderman Jones that the Fire Chief and Assistant Fire Marshal be permitted to attend the Firemen's Convention, June 8-11th, at Harlingen, Texas with expenses paid by the City. Motion seconded by Alderman Hunt and carried. Moved by Alderman Hunt that Mrs. Charlotte Montgomery be permitted to construct an approach at 101 Burnett Street provided all work is done under the supervision of the City Engineer. Motion seconded by Alderman Queisser and carried. Moved by Alderman Jones that Commissioner Curd be per- mitted to buy a car load of galvanized pipe during the week of'June 1st, to June 7th, at the lowest bid price at date of purchase. Motion seconded by Alderman Hunt and carried. Moved by Alderman Queisser that the water department be authorized to construct the following water lines: 400 ft. of 2 inch galvanized pipe on Henderson from Lincoln to Caroline; approximate cost $152.00 570 ft. of 2 inch galvanized pipe on Food Street from Rosewood to Neff; approximate cost 216.60 765 ft. of 2 inch galvanized pipe on Indiana St. between Front & Third, approximate cost 280.70 Total 0649.30 Motion seconded by Alderman Jones and carried.
