Min 07/25/1927r Wichita Falls, Texas. Basement Uity National Bank Bldg., July 25th, 1927. The Board of Aldermen of the city of Wichita Falls met in regular session on the above date with the following members present: R. E. Shepherd, Mayor, P. B. Curd, ) J. W. Hunt, } Ural Jones, } Aldermen, A. We King, Roy E. Carter, ) w. E. McBroom, City Clerk, Thelbert Eartin, City Attorney. The Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. The hearing with reference to the erection of a business house at 1301 Monroe Avenue by Gnus Pappas was called and after reading a petition of protests signed by interested property owners, the following motion was put in order* moved by Alderman Hunt that a permit be refused for the erection of a business building at 1301 Monroe Avenue, being the cor- ner of Avenue C and Monroe. Motion seconded by Alderman &ing and carried. Bids for the construction of foundation for the 500,000 gallon water tower were opened and transmitted to the engineers for tabulation. Bids for publication of legal notices for the year beginning August 1st, 1927, and ending July 31st, 1928, were opened and consid- ered. moved by Alderman curd that the contract for the publication of legal notices for the year beginning August 1, 1927 and ending July 31st, 1928, be awarded to the necord News Publishing Company upon their bid of 68V per column inch, and the Wichita Falls Record News be named the official newspaper for the city for. the duration' of this contrast. Motion seconded by Alderman Jones and carried. Bids for a city depository for the year beginning August lst, 1927, were opened and considered. Moved by Alderman Jones that the Security Vational bank be named as city depository for the year beginning August 1st, 1927, and ending July 31st, 1928, upon their bid of 4.0610 interest on daily balances. Moved by Alderman Hunt that the hearing be closed and that all proceedings and contracts heretofore entered into with reference to paving North 'Travis from Warren to Wichita Streets be cancelled and annulled. Motion seconded by Alderman turd and carried. The hearing with reference to paving Warren 6treet from Burnett to North 'Travis Streets was called and after hearing the protest of Mrs. u. Montgomery and I. G. A-rbuekle, the following motion was put in order. Moved by Alderman_ hunt that the hearing be continued until 7:30 o'clock P. M., August 8th, 1921. Motion seconded by Alderman Jones and carried. The hearing with reference to paving Bluff 6treet from 6th to 2nd Streets was called and after consideration of protests the follow- ing motion was put in order. Moved by Alderman Loarter that the hearing be continued until 7:30 o'clock P. M., August 8th, 1927. motion seconded by Alderman turd and carried. Moved by Alderman Curd that the contract for the construction of the foundation for the 500,000 gallon water tower to be located on the Marlow tract on the west side of the city be awarded to L. H. Motion seconded by Alderman Bones and carried. Moved by Alderman Curd that C. M. Goodwin be appointed deputy clerk of the Corporation Court to succeed to E. James, resigned. Motion seconded by Alderman carter and carried. Moved by Alderman Curd that the City Clerk be instructed to draw warrant on the Water rund in the amount of %�1062.70, payable to Montgomery & Ward and Mack & Veatch, associated engineers, to cover part payment on engineering fees in connection with the construc- tion of a 500,000 gallon water tower. Motion seconded by Alderman Jones and carried.
