Moved by Alderman Patton that Alderman McCutchen be elected Mayor Protem to act during the absence from the City of the Mayor, J. VT. ORDINANCE NO 1027 AN ORDINANCE MAKING IT DNIAWFUL FOR ANY PERSON OR PERSONS IN A PUBLIC PLACE OF BUSINESS TO I%KE OR CAUSE TO BE MADE ANY LOUD NOISE V'43ETHER MUSIC, TALKING, SINGING, OR OTHERWISE, BY ANY MEANS WHATEVER, WHETHER BY THE USE OF RAD I 0 , RADIOS, PHONOGRAPH, MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS, OR OTHERWISE, WHICH IS CALCUTATED TO, OP DOES, DISTURB OTHERS IN THE VICINITY OF SUCH PUBLIC PLACE OF BUSINESS, PRESCRIBING A. PENALTY, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. Nays : None . Moved by Alderman Harvey that subject to an investigation b* the City Manager the City proceed to construct a curb and gutter around the properties owned by T. A. Hicks and Mrs. J. J. Lory at the corner of Avenue E and Polk Streets to protect this property from water overflow caused by running water down Avenue E, provided that the property owners pay one-half of the cost of such curb and gut ter . Motion seconded by Alderman Spoonts and c arri ed . The public hearing with reference to the application of T. T. Willis for a permit to construct an apartment house at the corner of Tenth and Grace Streets was called and after hearing no protests, the following motion was put in order: _oved by Alderman Hunt that W. T. Willis be granted a permit to construct an apartment house on his property on the corner of Tenth and Grace Streets. Motion seconded by Alderman Patton and carried. - � - - - - - - Bids for contracts to furnish end install fourteen traffic signals and approximately 1100 street signs were opened and tabulated. Moved by Alderman Spoonts that the bids for contracts to furnish traffic signals and street signs be referred to the City 11ran.ager with authority to make contract with the lowest responsible bidder proposing - to furnish this equipment. Motion seconded by Ald er man Harvey a rd carried . Moved by Alderman Patton that the meeting be adjourned. Motion seconded by Alderman Spoonts and carried. The Board of Aldermen then adjourned.
