AN ORDINANCE AMENDINI_ ORDINANCE NO. 922 PROVIDING FOR THE
CLOSING AND ABANDONING OF THAT PORTION OF CHESTER STREET LYING BE-
TWEEN BLUFF AND NINETEENTH STREETS IN THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS,
TEXAS, AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SELL SAME.
Moved by Alderman Eddleman that Ordinance No. 1038 be
passed on its third and final reading and be adopted as read.

PASSED AID APPROVED BY THE BOARD OF AIDERIEN OF THE CITY OF WICHITA
FALLS, TEXAS, on the 21st DAY OF DULY, A. D. 1930, ENTITLED "AN
ORDINANCE REGULATING THE BUSINESS OF OPERATIM AID MAINTAINING
MINIATURE GOLF COURSES, PUTTING GREENS, DRIVING COURSES, CROIUET
GAMES, AND ALL OTHER GAMES OF A SIMILAR NATIME, WITHIN THE CORPORATE
LIMITS OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS; REQUIRING THAT A PffW_IT BE OB-

AMENDING AN ORDINANCE PASSED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE
CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, AUGUST 2, 1930, AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE
OF REFUNDING BONDS IN THE A:OUNT OF $640,000.00, IN TWO SERIES OF
$320,000.00 EACH THE FIRST SERIES BEARING 4e, INTEREST, 713E SECOND
SERIES BEARING 4A,% INTEREST, BY INCREASING THE TAX LEVY OF THE SERIES
1930-B REFUNDING BONDS FROM THREE AND FOUR -TENTHS (3.40) CENTS TO

WHEREAS, on the 2nd day of August, 1930, the Board of Alder-
men passed as ordinance entitled:
"ORDINANCE NO. 1037 BY THE BOARD OF AIDERIVIEN OF THE CITY
of Wichita Falls, Texas, authorizing the issuance of
Refunding Bonds in the amount of •'640,000.00 in two
series of $320,000.00 each, the first series bearing
four and one-half per cent interest, the second series
bearing four and three -fourths per cent interest,
designating the bonds to be refunded, prescribing the
maturities of both series of Refunding Bonds, provid-
ing the method of exchanging the original bonds for
the Refunding Bonds, and declaring an emergency."

pay the interest on said bonds and to create a sinking fund sufficient
to discharge them at maturity; and
V,MREAS it has been determined that the tax of three and
four -tenths (3.40j cents is not sufficient to pay the interest and
to pay the proportionate part of the principal thereof for the year
193 0 ;
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF
WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS:
(1) That Section (23) of the ordinance passed August 2nd,
1930, authorizing the issuance of City of Wichita Falls, Texas,
Waterworks Refunding Bonds, Series 1930-A, $320,000.00, 4.,',%, and
City of Wichita Falls, Texas, ;'aterworks Refunding Bonds, Series
1930 B, $320,000.00, 4o, be amended so as hereafter to be and read
as follows:
(23) That to pay the interest on said bonds and to create
a sinking fund sufficient to discharge them at maturity, a tax of
seven ( 7¢) cents on each one hundred dollars' valuation of all
taxable property within the City of Vichita Falls, Texas, is hereby
levied for the current year 1930, on all of the taxable property
within said City, and shall be assessed and collected, and that for each
year while any of said bonds or interest thereon are unpaid said tax so
fixed above, together with so much in addition thereto as may be necessary
to pay the interest and principal maturing thereon, is hereby levied and
ordered to be levied, and each year while any of the principal or interest
of this issue is unpaid, there shall be calculated the rate of tax neces-
sary to pay the current interest and to pay the proportionate part of the
principal thereof for said year, and during each of said years a tax of;
and at the rate, so found to be necessary shall be levied, assessed and
collected for each of said years and applied to the purposes named, and
to no other purpose.
(2) The fact that the passage of this ordinance will constitute
a relief to the City's financial burden, being necessary for the peace,
safety and prosperity of the City, constitutes this an emergency measure,
demanding that the rules requiring ordinances to be read at more than one
meeting be suspended, and that this ordinance take effect immediately
from and after its passage, and it is so ordained.
